Now that we have established that God is not out to kill us and send us all to Hell, let us figure out why people go to Hell. We all know that "God so loved the World" so is there anything that he hates? Let us look at Proverbs 6:16-19.
16 These six things doth the LORD hate : yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
So in other words, God hates sin, period. But even though He abhors sin, God does not just decide one day, you sinned today so I am sending you to Hell. No, God is a merciful God and always has been, but with His foresight and foreknowledge, He can judge your heart by what He knows you will already do. Take the choosing of David for King.
1 Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
Most of us already know the story of King David and how he sinned against God time and time again even after he was chosen as King. But before all was said and done, God had already proclaimed that David was a man after His own heart, (1 Samuel 13:14) even knowing what he was going to do. So why should we, the Sons of God be any different or less important than King David. If God can judge him by the pureness of His heart towards God, why can we not be judged likewise?
