God: Father of Foe?

GOD: FATHER OR FOE?

Some may think of God as this big force out in space waiting to zap us for every sin we commit. Or, you may think that He takes pleasures in sending people to Hell to prove a point. God did not create Hell for mankind. It was made for the angels that chose to disobey Him. Therefore, if it was not made for men, then it could not be God's pleasure to send His creation to Hell. Even though man sinned, it was God's plan to redeem them so they would have everlasting life and peace. We all know the age-old scripture:

St. John 3:16-19

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

This truly is God's heart and mind towards His people.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved .

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

John 6:38-40

38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Time and time again it is said that it is the will of the Father that none be lost. So now that it is established that God did not create us just to destroy us, let us ask ourselves what is it that could make Him turn His back on us and sentence us to Hell? The answer is simple: SIN.
