Don't Resist It

262 words, about 1 min read

Just before His crucifixion, Jesus foretold that His disciples would face arrest, appear before magistrates, endure beatings, and suffer persecution. He shared these warnings not to discourage them but to prepare them, so that they wouldn't be offended or resist suffering when it came.

Hebrews 12:4-5

4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

Don’t seek a way out of your trial prematurely, and don’t abort God’s purpose in your life by resisting suffering. 2 Corinthians 12:9 teaches us that God’s grace is sufficient, because His strength is made perfect in our weakness. The Holy Spirit is your Comforter who can influence your heart into the peace, righteousness and joy needed to withstand the trial. Trust in God’s love and wisdom. He loves you and He knows what He is seeking to achieve in you. If you continue to run or circumvent suffering, you will never experience the power of God in you.

Understanding this should create joy in our hearts and a willingness to suffer even more, so that we may experience the power of Christ. When you reach a point where you can confidently say, "I know my Father loves me, and I understand that whatever He is allowing in my life is for my ultimate good," you are embracing your trial. This agreement marks a significant spiritual milestone in you that should be celebrated!
