Do I Speak As A Prophet?

I know that God called me to serve Him and His people as an apostle. But I always wondered about the prophetic gift that I also knew I had. So much so, until I began to question my calling as an apostle. Of course, the Lord settled the apostle issue pretty quickly. Not by saying anything to me about it at first; but by doing the work of an apostle through me.

Now for your information -

One might think, “Well, why didn’t He (God) just speak to you again about your apostleship to set your mind at ease?” I hope this is a teachable moment for you as you embark on your ministry journey.

From the very beginning of my salvation, God used me as a teacher of His Word. I was very comfortable as a teacher. I loved it. Then came evangelism. I traveled to

different places, and was used mightily in the gifts of healing and the laying on of hands. I liked that also. But then He told me to start a church. Now I questioned this in my heart but I knew He had spoken. So I started the church and was working as a pastor. But then He gave me another church and another church and another church. You get the picture. I knew for certain five years into my ministry that I was called by God to be an apostle.

However, He began to use me in the prophetic gift a lot. This was something He had also done before I knew of the apostleship. Therefore, having used me in the prophetic so much; it caused me to think, “Maybe I am a prophetess.” This would surely make me a lot more acceptable in the church world. God told me things that were going to happen in the future; and they would come to pass. Many of these things are documented.

Well, what am I? Teacher, evangelist, pastor, prophetess, or apostle? I could not pretend that I didn’t know God had called me to the apostleship. But He did not say anything about any of this until now. During the writing of this book, He said;

“You obeyed me. You walked, in the things I set before you. The rumblings of your heart did not drive you to disobedience. You did not allow the questioning

of your own heart to override that which you knew I had spoken to you. Now consider this. Your story is the same as the others: Peter, James John and

Paul. They all walked in the other gifts. They all prophesied things to come. I am using you, even as I used John to write what the Spirit is saying to the Church. Carry on.”

The object of this story is for you to focus on the work God has set before you, instead of the title of the gift you have received. Do the work. The gift will manifest its own identity.

The Operation Of The Gift

Revelation 22:9-21 is a prophecy, spoken by John, the Revelator, to the Church. Here we are able to see the true operation of the prophetic gift.

Revelation 22:8-13

8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen,

I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.

9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and

of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this

book: worship God.

10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this

book: for the time is at hand.

11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy

still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let

him be holy still.

12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

Here we see John has a guide that is revealing the events to come and the chronological order of those events. We also know that the guide is another prophet who has made it into Heaven long before John. However, the point I also want to make is what the prophet said to John, and John himself repeated it to us.

While John is speaking directly to the Church, Jesus begins to speak directly to the Church through John. This is the true operation of the prophet’s ministry. He is one with the Word of God, and he is one with the mind of God. He is simply one with God.

Revelation 22:14-21

14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the

tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and

idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the

churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and

morning star.

17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth

say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take

the water of life freely.

18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of

this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the

plagues that are written in this book:

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this

prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the

holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus.

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

We see the operation of the prophetic gift when Jesus was with His disciples:

John 14:8-9

8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not

known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest

thou then, Shew us the Father?

After Phillip asked Jesus to show them the Father, the Father quickly replied. (Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip?) Immediately, Jesus continued the answer...he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
