The Great Commission

I have been to a lot of places and seen a lot of things, but God has favored me in that He did not suffer me to get caught in the snare of what is not a representation of the Church of the Scripture .I have come to a place where my life and ministry are synonymous. Nevertheless, the Father has led me to my red sea.

Our commission is to be among those who are chosen to bring the church out of ignorance so that God’s purpose will come forth in the world. He told me in no uncertain terms, “Just as I sent Moses to bring the children of Israel out of Egypt, I have called you to bring the Church out of ignorance.” God settled that in my heart and I know without a shadow of a doubt that this commission is going to be fulfilled with or without me.

We are not called to debate these instructions but to bring clarity. We are not to argue the issues but to discuss the implementation of the plan for global evangelism. The tasks have been laid at our feet. We are chosen to do the will of the Father in our spheres of influence. I am sure there are other Apostles who may be saying the same things to their constituents.

There have been times when I have asked God why He would lead me in certain directions wherein it would seem much easier if He would simply just furnish me with the resources to accomplish the things He has said. But God has a route that we do not always understand or if we understood we would not readily embrace. It is always a route in which faith and character will be greatly tested..

Exodus 14:1-3 KJV

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pi-hahiroth, (mouth of the gorges) between Migdol (tower) and the sea, over against Baal-zephon: (of the north; Cold, baal of winter; dark and gloomy; the destroyer; baal-a Phoenician god) before it shall ye encamp by the sea.

3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.

Pharaoh’s heart and mind is no different from the mind of many today. Some may think the wilderness has shut us in and that there is no victory over the Pharaohs of our day and that the present church is a colossal giant that will never be subdued by the grace given to those chosen to lead the end-time Reformation. These thoughts have the ability to defeat you and cause murmuring and grumbling among you and discouragement to others.

Exodus 14:4 KJV

4 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.

The footsteps of the righteous are ordered by God. It is the Father who has led us on this path. He is responsible for our substance and lack of substance. In times past He did not allow us to enter into deep enterprises that would become stumbling blocks to our spiritual development. It is the acquisition of souls and the increase in the knowledge of Christ that are the focal points of ministry. The mind of Christ must be at the helm of the ministry if it is to reach out into the uttermost parts of the world. That mind is one of unselfishness, faith and trust in the leading of the Holy Ghost.

God gave Moses precise instructions concerning which route to take and what to do when he arrived. He also told Moses His purpose not only for the children of Israel, but also for the Egyptians. He basically told Moses, (paraphrasing),

“I am going to use your obedience to deliver my people out of captivity and also to show the Egyptians that I am God.” It is the intent of the Lord for His people to know Him as He is

But what are you in hope of? What is it that constitutes success in your book? Is it a ministry that is beaming with righteousness or is it fame? Is it a ministry that is able to change lives and make ministers of Christ; or is it financial gain? Where do you think we are going; higher up the food chain or deeper in the Spirit?

The Lord said, “If you would just trust Me and don’t focus on the impossibilities of the route, by your obedience I will deliver My people out of ignorance and turn men’s hearts back to Me; thereby showing principalities and powers my manifold wisdom by the Church.”

God’s work is supernatural and we are His agents on the earth. We are not bound by earthly elements or any other powers that be. He is using such powers even as He used Pharaoh for His purpose. God knew Pharaoh’s; thoughts and the intents of his heart so He used it to secure His will. In fact, He hardened Pharaoh’s heart and provoked him to attack the chosen nation.

God shared His strategy with Moses, and as the saga continues we see that Moses’ faith in God was solid. He trusted God to deliver even in the midst of what seemed impossible.

So then, all that we suffer and have suffered on this route is worth it because we know that we have not deviated from the path on which God placed us. In remaining steadfast to the vision, we have truly learned that indeed, “His grace is sufficient.” It is His plan and purpose that is being fulfilled through our obedience and I rest and move forward in those comforting words.

As I started out saying, we have come to the red sea and we are standing together. We have experienced the supernatural workings of God in the ministry from day one and we have witnessed the faithfulness of God to take us through every trial, the sufferings and humiliations and even the testing of our faith. But the ministry has stood and even now is standing by His power.

But just as Moses was accused by the children of Israel of leading them astray, I too have been accused. However, the people are excited and motivated to see the salvation of the Lord spread abroad. Apostolic pioneering and exploration of our measure is being presented to the people in this great commission to fulfill the mandate given to the Church.

In the walk of faith a born again believer will never walk in holiness unless the core of their being is pure. Nevertheless, there can be no purity without believing in what God has said and done.
