2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Prayer – is communion with GOD the Father and is also a platform for ministry. Prayer also reveals the disposition of the heart. It is the asking, beseeching, and the desire for the things He promised us. Sitting before God in prayer reveals the heart. If you go before God with an impure heart He will reveal it to you. Prayer is the platform to receive the spiritual blessings we need to minister to those who are lost, ignorant and out of the way. It is a place for the confession of love and the acknowledging of good and evil. It is the channel of our supply. It is the essential part of the portal of life. Prayer is the platform for the Ministry of Reconciliation. God has made provision for prayer. Prayer is what motivates Him to operate His will on earth.
Philippians 4:6
Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
If you are not motivated to pray you need to ask yourself why. Prayer sets you boldly before the throne of God. We are now His beloved sons, and we have access to Him. We can come boldly before Him. However, before His throne is a sea of glass, and everything is naked before Him. When you stand before Him you will see your own nakedness. All of your unrighteousness will be revealed.
TYPES OF PRAYER
1) Prayer of Agreement
The prayer of agreement can be used to reconcile others as well as yourself back to the righteousness of God. It is not used to request material things that are to be consumed by our own lust. Those natural things we solicit should be relative to the establishment of God’s covenant in the earth; for example, money to finance the ministry or necessary tools for the work of the ministry, etc. Touching and Agreeing
St. Matthew 18:19
Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
For many years, the Body of Christ erred in their teaching on touching and agreeing. This scripture does not refer to physical contact with a person or an object. There’s nothing in the scripture that mandates the need for points of contact for a healing or blessing.
a) Agreement means: “to be on one accord,” or “co-spirited.” In other words, two or more spirits are going to unite or marry concerning a particular situation or relationship. Therefore, they must agree and become co-spirited. In order for agreement to take place, everyone in prayer must be on one accord in heart and mind regarding the issue to be prayed about. You need to know those with whom you pray. In order to be in agreement, you have to take on an intercessor’s role; which is to be touched by the infirmities of those for whom you pray.
b) Touching also means: To determine how it will go. When we touch on something, we are determining how it will go. After you have agreed and determined how a situation will go, then “believe” that you have already received. In order to pray the prayer of agreement, we must acknowledge God’s purpose and His will in each situation, circumstance or relationship. We must also understand the sovereignty of God. There should be no fear or frustration. To determine how it will go.
2) Prayer of Supplication
Hebrews 5:1-2
1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins. 2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
Prayer is the ministerial platform for every high priest taken from among men. It sets the boundaries for what we can and cannot do inside of the ministry of reconciliation. Prayer lets us know what God will do and what He will not do, as we perform our profession as a high priest. In every situation, circumstance and relationship, prayer is what enables us to reconcile the world unto God. Supplication is the prayer that is offered on the behalf of oneself. Every High Priest from the Levitical Priesthood who went in to offer gifts and sacrifices had to offer them for himself first
(Hebrews 9:7) If he did not do so, he would be killed if he tried to offer a sacrifice for the people. God had to ordain him as clean.
Ephesians 6:18
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. KJV
Supplication comes from the word supplicant. The supplicant is the one who asks. The supplicant asks for those things he needs for his own body. It also means to humbly ask for specific benefits for oneself. Jesus is sitting on the right hand of the Father making intercession for His own Body, asking the Father to supply the Sons on the earth with whatever they need to perform His will. Likewise, we too must approach the Father for those things that pertain to our own natural body’s service to the Lord; for this body is often opposed in service by the fleshy mind that seeks control from time to time. When we come before the Throne of Grace for ourselves, we should not seek to obtain things that will render us a comfortable, luxurious lifestyle. We are to come seeking power to perform the ministry of reconciliation in the earth. We should come recognizing that we may be spiritually deficient in some areas and need more influence. Paul said in
Romans 7:25.
“It is with the mind that I serve the Lord”.
He recognized that a righteous disposition of the mind was necessary if his natural body would serve the Lord. Therefore, in our supplications we make requests for the riches of God’s glory to be dispensed in our being. Now let us go to Ephesians the third chapter and discover what these riches are.
Ephesians 3:16-19
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; That ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.
We need the riches of God’s glory in order to go through our various trials, tribulations and afflictions in life. We need The Spirit of Might (God’s Presence.) Supplication also includes praise and worship as we express our love for the Father. It is an opportunity to enter into submission by acknowledging sin in our lives. PRAYER AND ITS SUPPLICATION IS THE PLATFORM FOR US TO SEEK AFTER GOD’S WILL BEING DONE IN EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.
3) Intercessory Prayer
2 Corinthians 5:17-21
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Prayer is the platform for the ministry of reconciliation. The sons of God have been given the ambassadorship of planet Earth. An ambassador is a person who brings peace between two parties. The sons are peacemakers who have been sent forth to offer their lives as a living sacrifice, for the whole world. Therefore, we are mediators between God and man in a sense we represent both. This position was given to us by God, through Christ as stated in
Hebrews 5:4
And no man taketh this honour unto himself , but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
This platform was given to institute the ministry of reconciliation in the earth. This is the ministry of all those who are named by the name of Christ. It is not just for the five-fold ministers; it is for the entire Body of Christ to procure sons for the Kingdom of God. We are liaisons or intercessors for our world. The benefit for intercession is for the benefit of others. As an intercessor God demands that those who would serve Him “take no thought” for the things pertaining to their own livelihood or well-being.
When a true intercessor prays for an individual, he looses faith to operate in that person’s life. Faith is the operation of the Holy Ghost. Therefore, by praying or petitioning God on the behalf of a sinner, the Holy Ghost will begin His operations in that life. The same is true for a saint. Prayer is the mechanism the Lord provided for us to call for the will of the Father to be done in the earth. It is also the method by which the structure of our individual ministries is brought in line with the will of God. In other words, whether we have the gift of intercession or not; we all have the same responsibility of procuring more sons for the Kingdom.
