The Sons of God: Lords from Heaven

Jesus said to Nicodemus, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the spirit is spirit.”(John 3:6) If Jesus is the Lord from Heaven, then it must also be true that the sons are ‘lords from Heaven’. At some point the church must accept these truths as fact. At the salvation experience we were taken out of the flesh for the suffering of death to the flesh. Our spirit was placed in Christ for preservation. This is the conversion and transformation of the soul. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God (Col 3:3). Now this is where I want us to look more closely.

Our life or spiritual parts have been placed in Christ who is also in God. The scripture bears witness of this great mystery. Jesus prayed, That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou has sent me (John 17:21). Here is where the mystery is at its deepest depth. Paul tried to explain it to us in his letter to the Colossians. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power (Colossians 2:9-10). In Jesus is the entire Godhead. He is in the Father, and the Father is in Him. This spiritual placement gives Him the ability to fellowship with the Father daily. He did not have to “get in the Spirit” to worship or pray. He was already in the Spirit. He did not have to endure any frustrations in prayer, not knowing whether His prayers were heard or if they would be answered. This fact is illustrated at Lazarus’ tomb.

John 11:33

When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled.

John 11:38

Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.

John 11:41-42

41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

These passages suggest that the groaning in the spirit was actual communication with the Father. We know this to be a form of prayer because Paul said, Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered (Romans 8:26). Jesus did not allow what He saw in the natural, (the grieving of the family and friends or their lack of knowledge as to who He was), to affect or derail His trust in the Father. He kept communicating with the Father in groanings that could not be articulated by the flesh.

Jesus was walking in the Spirit. But this is not a place He sought after once He knew that He would have to work a miracle. This is the place of His birth. He lived with God. He acknowledged that place of fellowship that gave Him power and authority over all the works of the devil. He is the Lord of all lords. He is the Master of the Spirit world. That fact is made clear in one of His encounters with a demon possessed man.

Mark 5:2-13

2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:

4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.

5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,

7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. 10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.

12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

Jesus was with the Father. He did not cater to His flesh or allow His body to come between Him and the fellowship He had with God; nor did He define His existence by the infirmities of His flesh. But this is not true of the church today. It is bound by its own mindset. It does not understand the mystery of Christ.

We were not taught the revelation of Christ in us, the hope of glory. We do not know the New Creature. He is a verse in the Bible. He is not a real, living being who is equal with God in character and deeds. Instead, He is nothing more than a theological phantom that manages to remain invisible to the church. John also understood this mystery.

1 John 1:3

That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

John makes it clear that he and the other disciples were in the Spirit and this gave them fellowship with the Father and the Son. This is the manifestation of the prayer of John 17:21, That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: . . .. This is the mystery of Christ manifested. Note John says, “. . . that ye also may have fellowship with us . . .”. In other words, as Paul said, Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God (2 Corinthians 1:21). We are all in Christ by the same Spirit. Therefore, we all have access to the Father and the Son and that access is fellowship, if we walk in the truth. If we walk in the darkness of this world, then we truly forfeit our birthright. When Jesus walked the earth, He did not walk as a king in this world for it was not yet His time to set up a literal kingdom. However, He was Lord and King of a Kingdom that was not of this world. He is Lord of the Spirit world and has given power to the sons.

Luke 10:19-20

19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

This power over all the power of the enemy is what makes us lords in the Spirit world. We are here on a mission to rescue as many as would be free of the captivity of satan. We are the offspring of God the Father. There is no weapon formed against our position in God that can prosper and every tongue that rises up against us in judgment shall be condemned. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,

because their righteousness is always before God. We are the lords of righteousness. Jesus is our Master for He is the Lord of lords. Through Him we are divine and powerful in spirit. In obedience to God, the anointing rests upon our flesh. The enemy gets to know our name as a dread to his kingdom. When we speak, we speak the oracles of God. We are not self-willed and have no other agenda but to do the

will of our Father. Our lordship is exercised in the kingdom of darkness. We are a terror to demons and a nightmare to devils. We are ambassadors of Christ, who have been birthed in the Kingdom of Heaven but sent into the kingdom of darkness to procure more sons. When we come to set the captives free, demons will say, “. . . What have we to do with thee, thou sons of God? . . .”
