Like A Good Soldier

190 words, about 1 min read

The scripture teaches of a king assessing his army before going to war (Luke 14:31-33). Our Father God is that King, and we are His soldiers. He prepares us for the spiritual battlefield, ensuring we possess an unwavering resolve and the mind of Christ before launching us into ministry. This preparation involves trials, testing, and suffering.

Examine Paul’s admonition to his mentee, Timothy in the verses below:

2 Timothy 2:3-4

3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

God desires soldiers who withstand challenges without crumbling. Remember that your ultimate goal is to please the Captain who enlisted you. When life's trials confront you, avoid murmuring or grumbling. Just as soldiers undergo rigorous training, endure trials to emerge as a strong soldier in God's army.

Remember, someone is watching how you handle it, especially those who may have caused you pain. Your Christ-like response is a powerful testimony to your offenders—a testament to the transformative power of Christ within you.
