Faith and Dependence on God

It can be a great impediment to the move of God when those that lead the congregation have no faith in God. These leaders will never go beyond what is safe and predictable. Furthermore, they will discourage those that they lead which desire to follow their faith in God. These leaders are carnal and lean on their own understanding. Decisions that are made in ministry now become subject to assessments of risk, logic and reasoning. This is no way to lead God’s people.

This approach to leadership completely undermines God’s power and sovereignty. Ministers must have strong faith in God's promises and guidance, seeking His wisdom and relying on His provision in all aspects of their ministry.

The Church is not an organisation or a corporate institution and leadership of the church should not be operated as such. When a leader lacks faith, they become negative and reliant on their own devices.

You must examine the following for any minister that you are considering for leadership:

• When a perilous situation arises, is this person's natural response prayer or panic?
• Do the decisions this person make demonstrate faith in God?
• Does this person rely heavily on logic over faith?
• Do they respond in anxiety when the Holy Ghost changes an initial plan?
• Do you have the testimony that they know how to follow the Spirit in ministry?
• Does this person resort to only doing ministerial feats that are safe?
• Does a lack of faith hinder this individual from evangelism or other ministerial instructions?

Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

James 1:5-6

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.

6 For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
