Jesus Set The Boundaries of the Faith

The scriptures give us many examples of the power of the Holy Ghost both in the Old and New Testament. However, I believe His greatest achievement was to set and establish the boundaries of the Faith we now walk in. I really need you to open your heart here so that you might see the handy work of our Father.

The first thing the Holy Ghost manifested in the plan of salvation was the setting of the boundaries of the faith. I want you to consider some of these definitions of the word boundary as it is used in the scriptures.

To Set A Boundary: To appoint, to separate, limit, ordain, to determine or declare. Consider the passage below as the first manifestation of the setting of the boundaries in the life of Jesus.

Romans 1:1-4

1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)

3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

I want you to take a close look at the intent of the writer here. Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of our faith. In other words, the Holy Ghost established the faith with and by Jesus Christ. Power is the glory God gave to Jesus, ... And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness,... (Rom. 1:4).

And now that same power the Lord has bestowed upon us. 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven (Luke 10:19-20).

Romans 1:5-6

5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:

We, the children of God, were brought into the Kingdom of God through Jesus Christ. “Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world” (John 17:24).

Romans 1:7

To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Members of the Body of Christ; called, appointed, are declared to be the sons of God. Jesus did not leave anything to be pondered over. He made sure that the disciples and the church knew the Father.

John 17:26

And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

A name is more than a title. It is character, purpose, intent, and disposition. Jesus taught the character, purpose, and intent of God, and He walked in God’s disposition for at least thirty-three and one half years.

John 13:34-35

34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

John 15:17-24

17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.

18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have

persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.

22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.

23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also.

24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.

In order to be in the faith one must be declared to be the son of God, even as Jesus was. Everything written points to the coming of the Son of God; but what the Body of Christ fails to accept is that the Son of God was to be the first of many of His kind.

The question the Holy Spirit is putting to the Body of Christ now is, “How long will you deny and reject the fact that you were made the same as Jesus Christ?” A son of God, is a son of God. They all are of God. They have all the attributes of the Father. This was true of Jesus and it is no less true of us.

As I conclude this chapter, regarding setting the boundaries of the faith, I believe Jesus sums it up in His declaration of discipleship. This is important because there is no way to get to Heaven without being a disciple of Christ.

Luke 14:26

If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

Luke 14:27

And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

Luke 14:33

So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

Consider all that has been said, saints, and judge yourselves accordingly.
