Why Can't You Hear God?

I was having a conversation with one of the saints of God, who was once passionately involved in her political party. As I listened to the convictions she had about a recent presidential election, and its candidates, I was mesmerized by the views, perspective, and conclusions, she had come to. I knew enough not to say anything that would blatantly offend, so I simply took a low profile in the conversation, endeavoring to keep it a simple discussion between two sisters in the Lord.

I did, however, try to insert God’s perspective which was given a simple nod, but obviously having no power to change the perspective that was on the table. Thankfully the conversation ended in righteousness, without breaching any fellowship.

However, when I got up from the table after her departure, I went into my bedroom to work on some Faith Library material, when I heard the Lord say, “You cannot minister to a seducing spirit.” Oh, my God. What are you saying? Again, He said, “You cannot minister to a seducing spirit. The people you are worried about have taken on the mind of the spirit that has seduced them. They believe whatever that spirit says, and they hear not my Word. They have turned from the way of righteousness and embraced that which is vile, violent, and gainsaying. They have forsaken the Kingdom of Heaven and all of its righteousness. They have placed their affections and hope in the beggarly elements of this world.”

I stopped whatever I was doing and sat for a moment stunned, but grateful. Now I understood why I was not able to reach them with the truth. Their attitude and spiritual disposition were totally unchangeable when it came to the politics of their nation. This was true of Canadians, Jamaicans, Bahamians, Trinidadians, Europeans, and of course, Americans. It seemed that every message preached over the years was gladly received, up until God began to deal with those things that kept us from walking in the Spirit, and having true fellowship with Him.

The Father put the mystery of Christ right in our faces. He began by bringing more clarity to the doctrine of Oneness, (Make them one, prayed Jesus.). This doctrine shined the light on the true nature of the sons of God. It forced us to see and accept, or reject our place in the Kingdom. I am sad to say that there are many who have traded their place in the soon coming Kingdom, for a virtual reality in this world.

Nevertheless, my heart still pants after them. I want to see them embrace who they are more than they want to escape hell. I love them and the Lord knows it. Therefore, He was gracious to me. He gave me the answer to my dilemma. That made so much sense to me. I finally understood why such wonderful people could go no further with the Lord. They had been seduced by the ‘spirit of the world.’

1 Corinthians 2:12

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

The passage above clearly reveals that there are two spirits capable of influencing the world and the Church. Those who know not God are the children of the world and thus they have the spirit of the world living in them. Members of the Body of Christ have been given the Spirit of God, which allows us to know the things pertaining to God and godliness.

However, I want to make it very clear that the knowledge we obtain from the indwelling of the Spirit of God, is obtained through the nature the Holy Ghost has generated in us. We are partakers of the divine nature of God; therefore, we can know and understand those things pertaining to God and His Kingdom. That which might be known of God is already in us. That knowledge is in our nature.

2 Peter 1:3

13 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.

A seducing spirit is able to seduce the saved and the unsaved. The unsaved are already walking in the darkness of this world and are of their father, the devil. While the saved are the children of God. But the scripture is very plain:

Romans 6:16

16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

If you find that there are times when you are not walking after the Spirit of God, then at some point you must stop and discern, why. The scripture tells us to examine ourselves and see if we are in the faith. The examination should be true and without compromise. We are the children of the Most High. We can walk in the divine nature of our God. The time has come to do so. We may never have another opportunity to follow Christ.
