Chapter 6: War Of Armageddon Aftermath

At the beginning of the Millennium, Satan is bound and cast into the bottomless pit. He is set to remain there for a thousand years.

Revelation 20:1-3

1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

At this point, all of Jesus’ enemies (except death) have been destroyed. Satan is bound in the bottomless pit, the Antichrist and the False Prophet are cast into the lake of fire, and their armies lie dead upon the earth. As a result, the early years of the Millennium will be devoted to cleansing the land - sanctifying it from the corruption of decaying bodies and the residue of war.

Ezekiel 39:9-16

9 And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:

By the time Armageddon occurs (Revelation 16:12–16; 19:11–21):

• The vial judgments will have destroyed infrastructure - waters turned to blood, massive heat, earthquakes, and total darkness.
• Electric grids, fuel refineries, satellite systems, and manufacturing would be gone. Modern militaries depend on these.
• There will be no global trade or logistics to produce ammunition, maintain tanks, or operate aircraft.
• Even gunpowder and bullets would eventually run out, leaving people to fight with what can be made by hand - bows, arrows, swords, staves, spears, and shields.

As a result of the lack of resources and the might of modern weaponry, the warriors at Armageddon will be forced to revert to primitive weaponry out of sheer necessity. The Scriptures, foreseeing this regression, make no mention of modern instruments of war.

10 So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord God.

All the weapons used in the war will then be burned for a period of seven years. In fact, there will be no need to gather wood for fire, because the people will instead use the very weapons of war as fuel.

11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.

12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.

13 Yea, all the people of the land shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I shall be glorified, saith the Lord God.

14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment, passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.

15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man’s bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamongog.

16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah.

Thus shall they cleanse the land.

After God destroys the armies of Armageddon, including Gog, Israel will spend seven months burying the vast number of dead to cleanse the land. A special valley, called Hamongog (“the multitude of Gog”), will become their burial place, so filled with bodies that travelers will cover their noses as they pass by. The people will mark any remaining bones for appointed buriers to remove, and even a nearby city will be named Hamonah to commemorate God’s victory and the complete cleansing of the land.

A FEW MEN LEFT

The verses below describe the condition of the earth at the beginning of the Millennium.

Isaiah 24:1-5

1 Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.

2 And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.

The verses above redefine the culture of humanity. From God’s perspective, it matters not what your station in life was before His judgements came. He has called all who remained on the earth after the rapture of the Church sinners; and His judgements are the same for them all.

3 The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the Lord hath spoken this word.

4 The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.

5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.

6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

JUDGEMENT GIVEN TO THE SAINTS

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. The above verse is the fulfilment of Jesus’ prophecy concerning the Church. “Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?”(1 Corinthians 6:2). After the Battle of Armageddon, there will be people alive on the earth from many different nations. At that time, Jesus and some of the saints will sit upon thrones along with Jesus and judge those nations to determine which nations will be allowed to continue living upon the earth.

It is important to note that the saints will take part in judging, not only those who are alive at Christ’s return to the earth (sheep and goat nations) (see reference Scripture below), but also those who are born during the Millennium, those who rise in the second resurrection, and even the angels who departed from God.

Matthew 25:31-46

31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

THE MILLENNIAL REIGN OF CHRIST
