Lesson 14 - An Exposition on *God of Gods*

The following is an exposition on Chapter 1 – God of gods from the study guide from School of the Prophets – “Ye Are gods”. Excerpts from the study guide will be gray and of a different font. They will also be enclosed in parentheses {… }1 {It is an awesome thing to hear directly from the Lord. There is something about His words that can carry you for years. I have had many such encounters with the Lord over the years; but the latest visitation was most encouraging and timely. “Tell my people, they are gods to this world. I have set them so. But if they will not live as a god in this world, they will not qualify to live as one in the next.”}

Firstly, it is imperative for me to mention that this is the message the Holy Spirit has poured into the Church for this time. Without a doubt, it is not a new message; rather, it is the essential thread of the entire New Covenant. It was not sent to puff us up, rather it was sent to humble us and cause us to identify the new creature we truly are. If we comprehend who we truly are we will be able to see the ease in walking in the Spirit. With that said, it is crucial that this is what is ministered in the churches. God has poured out this truth to us not for a conference, but so the Body of Christ can be taken to the standard of the Word.

Therefore, it is very needful for us to be redundant in this season – redundancy is safe. Teach this truth, until you are sure that those of your influence understand it and, more importantly, they must be a demonstration of it. {“Tell my people, they are gods to this world. I have set them so. But if they will not live as a god in this world, they will not qualify to live as one in the next.”}

God Almighty has called the Church gods. This is very important. If not, He would not have said so. In the word above, God is teaching the Church how they will qualify to be saved in the end – they must live as gods. When teaching a message like this it is good for us to be aware of the common perceptions of the term “god” (with a common “g”). Common Perceptions (or thoughts) of the term “god”

A god is an idol, created (whether conceptualized or physically formed) by men to be worshipped and esteemed. They exalt these instruments and ideologies above themselves and serve them as God.

There are no other gods, because God has declared that He is the only God. (Is 44:6- 8)

Isaiah 45:5-6

5 I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:

6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else.

Exodus 20:3

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

If there are any gods they must be more important than a human being. There are times when Angelic Beings are referred to as gods. Bearing these perceptions in mind, you must realize that many may not quickly embrace the term gods for the Church. Therefore, when teaching you must deal with their perceptions by using scripture, while being careful not to stifle the essence of the word God has given.

Perception #1 A god is an idol, created (whether conceptualized or physically formed) by men to be worshipped and esteemed. They exalt these idols and ideologies above themselves and serve them as God. In addressing this, you must first acknowledge it is a very valid perception; moreover, it is scriptural. The use of the term god to refer to saints is very uncommon in the Church world. They are more familiar with the term sons of God or believers. Usually when the term god is used it is to refer to idolatry. God indeed spoke concerning these idols. He declared they were not gods. He never accepted anything man made as a god or as gods.

They should not be worshipped and the worshipping of such is blasphemy. Seeing this concept is true and very scriptural, when teaching the message “Ye are gods” you must first deal with their perception of gods. You will find as you study Chapter 1 from the Ye are gods study guide you will see it explains thoroughly what a god is not. After which, it flows into scripture which declares God Almighty to be the God of gods. {Now we also know God is a Spirit. Therefore, if there are any other real gods, they, too, must be spirit. Having scoured the Old Testament, we see clearly God never acknowledged anyone or anything man produced as God. However, the interesting thing is that as far back as the writings of Moses we see something peculiar. Moses:

Deuteronomy 10:16-17

16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

17 For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:

Daniel 2:47

47 The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.

Psalm 136:2

2 O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.

How can this be? He said there are no other gods. He is the only true and living God. But here, through three of His prophets, He acknowledges there are or will be others. Beloved, these verses are prophetic in nature.} It is good to teach the concept of God of gods, because it brings some things into mind. Firstly, it is important to mention that the prophets prophesied by the resting of the Spirit of God upon them. They would speak by the Holy Ghost even as the donkey in the account of Balaam (Num 22:21-31).

Therefore, these declarations were not personal perceptions these three prophets had of God – rather it was God speaking through and by them. Therefore, how can God be a God of gods, if He already declared that there are no other gods? This therefore clarifies that the gods He is referring to through the prophets are not idols made by man. A good scripture to assist you in the explanation of this is

Psalm 82:6

6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

It is beneficial because it defines the gods God was referring to when He declared Himself God of gods. He is not saying that He is the God of idols, because idols are not gods. He is saying He is the God of gods, or in other words He is the Father of His children.

Psalm 82:6 defines what a true god is: a god is a child of God. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his (Romans 8:9).

A god is one who was once a human being (which is a soul enclosed in flesh). However, he was transformed to a god when his soul was removed from the flesh, placed inside of the Holy Spirit and the Spirit placed into the flesh. A god is one who has the Spirit of God inside of them, only then can you truly be a Child of God (Romans 8:15).

Perception #1

COMMON PERCEPTION TRUTH: A god is an idol, created (whether conceptualized or physically formed) by men to be worshipped and esteemed.

They exalt these instruments and ideologies above themselves and serve them as God. Though the Bible declares idols are not gods, it does declare God to be the God of gods. A real god is a Child or the literal offspring of God. The mystery of Christ simply has this god in flesh for the trying of his faith. As we walk on earth, we do not seek praise, glory or honor (though we will be in the Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ). We are here to be humble and meek – without vanity. The responsibility of a god is to glorify God the Father and His Son.There are no other gods, because God has declared He is the only God.

When God declared, there was no other God He made that statement referring to idols. He also was establishing Himself as a creature. God is a species meaning He is a creature of His own kind. He is a spirit and that spirit is peculiar to God and God alone. There were no other gods because there were none else at that time who were of His kind. No one else had His Spirit (or His spiritual DNA). Therefore, when He has Children, they are the exact same species that He is, because they are made one spirit with His Spirit (1 Cor 6:17).

They are truly gods, but they are all one with Him, by being inside of Him. We are not before God, neither are we above or equal with Him in authority. We are His children and therefore gods by Him and because of Him. If there are any gods they must be more important than a human being.The new creature (god) was placed in flesh for the purpose of humility and kinsmanship. They were placed in the flesh so that they could be equal with mankind as it relates to being in flesh, yet present with God as it relates to being in the Spirit.

The positioning of the new creature (the soul in the Holy Ghost) inside of flesh, makes them equal with humanity for the purpose of reconciliation.There are times when Angelic Beings are referred to as gods.Yes, this is true. However, the sons of God are not of the same kind as angels, they are of the same kind as God. They are one with His Sprit, which He professed there was no other Spirit like His. The spirit which the sons have become is the Spirit of God.
