Justification of Life

In speaking of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, God said to Adam, “The day you eat of it, you shall surely die.” The Law of Sin and Death became effective on that day; the moment God spoke. That law guaranteed that every creature that disobeyed the Creator would be under the power and the penalty of death.

Romans 5:12

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Therefore death is the consequence of unbelief and disobedience. This is eternal separation from God, to spend eternity in outer darkness or the lake of fire. But God declared that He would bring forth a remedy for man’s demise. He promised Eve a righteous seed that would destroy Satan, and spoil his powers.

Hebrews 2:14-15

14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed asking the Father to make us one with them. We have learned much about the doctrine of “Oneness”; our being made one with the Father and the Son. But what about Jesus’ oneness with us? He took on flesh blood, according to the Scripture above. However, what are the true implications of His humanity? The Father wants us to know the depths of Jesus’ love for us. Not only did He love us while we were yet in sin, but He became sin so that He could satisfy justice for us. He took all the sins of the human race upon Himself. This had to be very traumatic for Him for He was the Lord from heaven. He knew no sin and He had never been separated from His Father. But for us He submitted to the horrors of sin, death and hell; a penalty we should have paid. Listen to His testimony.

Psalm 40:1-2

1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

Psalm 40:6-7

6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

Psalm 40:12-13

12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

13 Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.

It is an amazing love that the Father and the Son have for us. No one could have done what He did. No one would have taken our place to suffer the horrors of death and hell in order to secure those who were evil and deserving of death. No one would have died just so we would be justified to live.

Romans 5:15-19

15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

It is this justification of life that is the foundation of our salvation. We were in no way just before God. Quite the contrary; we were creatures fitted for destruction. Having inherited Adam’s sin it was impossible for us to claim a right to life; for all died in Adam. Nevertheless, the Father loved us so much that He devised a plan that would allow us to live and not perish. Thus we have Jesus as not only the sacrifice, satisfying the law, but His resurrection as the Son of man, made Him the only man on the planet alive unto God. All others were considered dead. Now true life is with Jesus. The life of Jesus would fill all who believe.

1 John 5:9-13

9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God ; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

God had a testimony of Jesus. He recorded this testimony, stating that eternal life was only found in Jesus. It does not get any plainer than this. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father but by me.” Do we believe this at face value?

The Father has given us a conscience (the hidden man of the heart) that is able to bear witness of the truth. We cannot dispute nor change that fact. This is why Adam was not deceived. His own spirit bore witness of the truth and the lie. He chose the lie, thus rejecting the truth. We do the same, when the truth is presented and we prefer to accept the lie. God did not leave it up to us to know. He gave us a knower, the conscience. Whether under captivity or not it knows God’s voice and the righteousness of His Word.

All the bondages of depression and oppression are gone in the Spirit. In Jesus is life and light. In Him is no darkness. You will cease to struggle with sin, because the desire is unto the Lord. Oh, what else can I say to make you see the truth? We are His children. He is indeed our Father. We are the sons of God in the same sense that Jesus is the son of God. He is simply the first of many brethren. He is our life. In Him we live and move and have our being. His life is our justification to live.

Romans 8:15

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

The Spirit of Jesus Christ is in us. It is what keeps this body alive now. It has caused us to escape the pains of death, hell and the grave. It is His life in us that God has deemed righteousness. It has justified our right to live eternally with the Father even though we were once sinners.

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is true, and we are in Him that is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life (1 John 5:20).
