Perfect and Complete

CHAPTER ONE

There is tremendous controversy surrounding the word “complete.” Nevertheless it is our heritage. It is the one word that encompasses the entire embodiment of God’s redemption plan.

Colossians 2:10

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

Colossians 4:12…

that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

What does complete really mean?

According to Webster, it means whole, total, full, entire, comprehensive, inclusive and absolute. But let us discover what is the original Greek word for complete.

COMPLETE: The greek word is pleroo (play-ro’-o); below is a list of meanings attached to this word.

1. FURNISHED: A simple definition of this word is to supply or to provide, to equip and to endow. The sons of God have been endowed with power so that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works (2 Timothy 3:17).

It is quite necessary that we grasp the full meaning of what is being said in this verse. God has given us the power to bring forth good works. And let us be a bit more specific here by defining the nature of these good works.

Paul uses the word works to refer to our deeds, our labor and our occupation. We have been given the ministry of reconciliation that is our occupation. It is the target of all our labor and it is the purpose embedded in all our deeds.

The word good refers to the nature of works. The Greek word used here is at agathos whose primary root means beneficial. As we are the sons of the most high God, all that we do must pertain to the Kingdom of God. In essence, we have been provided with the power to produce deeds, labor and ministry that is acceptable unto God.

2. IMBUED: To fill, instill, and permeate with a particular quality or to saturate with a particular substance.

We have been filled with the Holy Spirit. It is the Spirit of God. To instill is to inspire, persuade and to encourage. To permeate means to flood or saturate.

God has poured His life into us. This life has inspired us, convinced and persuaded us that as He is so are we in this world today. We know in whom we have believed therefore we are encouraged to endure to the end. We will work the works that we are inspired to do because out of our bellies shall flow rivers of living water. This is our heritage. It is what we were called to.

We are imbued with the power of the Holy Ghost. It is the substance that saturates our being. Even as the script has proclaimed, in him we live and move and have our being.

With regard to the quality of our life, the life we now live in the flesh, we live by the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ. His life is in us and as Paul said, if our heart remains true in the midst of our trials, then His spirit will even rest upon our mortal bodies.

3. INFLUENCED: To have power, authority and persuasion.

As stated earlier, the Lord has poured Himself into us. This in-filling has allowed God to be present here in the earth. The presence of God is power and authority. But that power and authority are not commodities to be used in building the kingdoms of men. When we walk after the Spirit the power of the Kingdom of God is made available to us. We are able to love with the love of God and forgive those who despitefully use us. The gifts of the Spirit are able to flow freely and the glory of our Father is accomplished.

The point here is, the same Power of Presence Jesus was able to walk in is given to us. Demons and devils do acknowledge our presence, sicknesses and diseases are surrendering to our word. It is the same today, even as it was from the beginning of time. The in-filling of the Holy Ghost has provided us with the mind of Christ. We must be aware of the power of the presence of God within.

We must do nothing to grieve or quench that power. But surely we are to make ourselves subject to the will of the Spirit in all things. This will ensure that we prevail in every encounter with Satan’s power over men.

You must endeavor to experience this awesome administration of the Spirit. And if the administration of the law which was written on tablets of stone was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look upon the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, how can the administration of the Spirit not be even more glorious? Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Corinthians 3:7-18)

We have been subjected to this great hope.

4. TO EXECUTE AN OFFICE: Our office is that of Sons. We are the Sons of the Most High God. Our polling is to bear witness of the truth which declares that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. He is alive today and sits on the right hand of God; until such time as God has appointed for him to return and receive his own.

We’ve already talked about the ministry of reconciliation which is our primary purpose for having been left on the earth. We understand that our purpose is to procure more sons. However, this work can only be done by the power of righteousness. Another scripture that comes to mind is in Paul’s letter to the Corinthian church.

2 Corinthians 5:17-18

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

5. SATED: Satisfied or content, full and overflowing

6. PERFECT: Complete, lacking nothing, without sin, holy and acceptable to God. A scripture reference to this fact can be found in Peter’s letter to the churches that were scattered throughout Asia.

2 Peter 1:3

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

The key word here is all. All means inclusive, nothing lacking. We have the power to live even as Christ lived. It is time to cease the mental rebellion against this fact. Why is it so hard to accept that we are made the righteousness of God and that righteousness has empowered us to live inside the faith and to do the will of the Father here on earth without sin?

It is important that we cleave to the truths we have already learned. Vacillating back and forth in our mind regarding the profoundness of script will lead to doubt and unbelief.

The principles of the doctrine of faith never change. Therefore the fact that some may not walk in them does not justify a re-defining of our salvation experience. This issue must be addressed because Satan has launched a blitzing attack on the leadership in the Body of Christ to convince and persuade us to do a re-evaluation of salvation that leans toward an impossibility to live this new life in Christ sinless from its conception.
