MINDSETS TO BE DEVELOPED

1. SUFFERING

1 Peter 4:1

Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin

2 Timothy 3:12

Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

Most saints do not believe that they are to suffer. But the above scripture says that if we suffer while in this flesh, we will cease from sin. We have been appointed to suffer.

2. SELF-DENIAL

St. Mark 8:34-38

34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

The Bible teaches us that we should not have ambitions that are contrary to God's will. We should seek to understand God's will for our lives and strive to live according to it. We should not be motivated by selfish desires or the jealousy of others, but instead focus on serving God and blessing others. We should surrender our will to the Father and serve Him faithfully, even if it means suffering. Ultimately, our goal should be to reconcile others to the Father and to live according to His will.

3. FAITH - HUMAN FAITH VS. DIVINE FAITH

Human faith is our ability to believe based upon what we see or hear (St. Matthew 9:20).

Divine faith is the Holy Spirit living through us to perform the will of God (Romans 3:3).

4. LOVE - The attitude of God towards His people (John 3:16, 15:13).

5. PATIENCE - the ability to wait without murmuring or complaining (James 1:14).

6. HOPE - Joyful expectation, developed through experience. The confidence that God will take you all the way to the saving of your soul (1 Peter 1:13).

There is a powerful principle in God. When we give up all that we have---we gain so much more. Whatever we fight to keep in this life is our greatest detriment.

Matthew 19:27-29

27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?

28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

We have been given enough revelation of the Word so if we only submit to it, the power we will walk in is relative to the level we have heard. Lack of submission will stunt our growth. What will you lose if you give yourself totally over to the Word? Deliverance comes when your heart is vulnerable to the Word of God.
