The Spirit Of Abiathar

The Church is no longer an environment where the Holy Spirit is unopposed.Sadly enough, this opposition is coming from the clergy itself. There are members of the clergy who have been sitting under the truth for years, yet refuse to fully embrace it.

There are mothers and fathers who have been in the Church for many years, and in leadership no less, that are very carnal in their walk. Even their own children are ministering to them; trying desperately to bring them out of carnality.

Resisting the Holy Ghost

Acts 7:51

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost:...

• To be stiff necked is to be obstinate, headstrong and stubborn.
• Uncircumcised in heart is to have an impure heart; a heart filled with malice, covetousness, unforgiveness, and iniquity.
• Uncircumcised in ears is to have no ear to hear the truth. Such people have formulated their own truth. And that is where they live. They have deceived themselves into believing the whims of their own hearts to be the voice.

Those who resist the Holy Ghost are presumptuous in their thinking. They believe they can work ministry without having to change their carnal character. So how is it that we can walk in carnality and expect to challenge satan for the lives of his captives? This is foolish thinking. This is the spirit of Abiathar manifested in the Church.

Those who presume to work ministry in this spirit, should take time to examine what it is that God is allowing them to do. For instance; they may be able to talk to people and get them to come to Church, but they will never be able to lay their hands on them so that they might receive the Spirit of God. They cannot be intercessors, not even for their own children. They will always need someone else to pray for them and the people in their sphere of influence and so-called ministry.

Those who walk in the spirit of Abiathar, cannot come before the Lord. Their hearts are not pure. Neither do they submit to the Holy Ghost in the people God has anointed to serve him. They are disloyal and self-serving. They seek attention, notoriety, and entitlements.

Peter also had a lot to say about this spirit.

2 Peter 2:2

And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

It is dangerous to follow after those who walk in their own ways, not adhering to the way of righteousness or the order of God. It is also unrighteous to place Saints in position to serve under such a spirit.

2 Peter 2:9-10

9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.

Here is where you must either discern the divide, or be lost in the judgment. If the Lord is preserving for punishment those who despise His government and speak evil of his leaders – those who are self-willed and presumptuous enough to think that they are able to work ministry in carnality – then you should speedily depart from such people. If they are preserved for judgment, so are the ones who follow them.

There can be no middle of the road stance on these issues. The Word is clear and leaves no room for speculation. Either one is in submission to the Word of God, or he is not. The unholy culture of the Church will never change as long as we compromise these matters. If it is true that we are seeking to create a righteous environment so that the Holy Ghost will not be grieved and be able to flow freely among us, we must have the courage to do righteous judgment.

When the divide came to the Levitical Priesthood, he did not cast all the Levites out of the Temple; but he did remove them from positions of authority and influence over his people. They were not spiritual, therefore, they were unworthy of leadership or spiritual works that would provoke God to move in the lives of his people.

We now have the opportunity to be even as the sons of Zadok. We can stand for the righteousness of the Kingdom. We can purge our floors of all things that offend the Holy Ghost.

I know that there will be some who might not agree with me on this. However, the Lord has spoken, and I will obey. We are not mere preachers and teachers, we are also watchers for the souls God has placed for us to lead.
