Oneness: The Mind Of Christ

As Christians, everything we need to know is compounded within the boundaries that were outlined in our previous lesson on Setting the Boundaries of the Faith. Picture the boundaries set around the shape of a square; they are: Oneness, the Faith of Christ, Suffering, and Purpose.

These are the components that set the boundaries of what we are to believe. Anything that does not promote oneness with God is not within the boundaries of our faith. We will discuss all of these components, however, in this lesson we will talk about the Gospel itself and our oneness with God, which is the mind of Christ.

The Gospel simply means good news. The good news is the fact that we can be saved to escape the damnation that is coming upon the earth. The good news is also that we can move from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of Light through our Savior Jesus Christ; who delivered us from sin, hell and damnation.

But how did God accomplish this great salvation? What was His methodology? It is important that the Body of Christ understand the method by which our salvation was accomplished, because the method directly affects our continued existence here on earth. It explains why God saved us, and instead of taking us immediately to be with Him, left us here on planet Earth. He left us here, because what He did in us and for us is sufficient for what He wants to do through us. Sufficient, because He made us one with Him. We, the sons of God, are the evidence that the Gospel is indeed good news.

In St. John 17:9-11, Jesus is praying as though He has already been crucified, resurrected, and has ascended back to the Father. There is no question as to whether He is going to go through it. In His heart, it has already taken place. Whenever God instructs us, it should already be in our heart. Any questions we have should be about how to achieve what has been instructed. We should never go to God in doubt or in controversy about the instructions. He does not give instruction without giving ability. This is pertinent inside of oneness, because since we have been made one with God, we should know His mind.

We have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). The Spirit that dwells in us is the mind of the Father. Why then is the Church so alienated from that mind? How can we declare oneness with God and never know what He wants for our lives? Jesus Christ said, “I always do those things that please the Father.” (John 8:29). Only doing those things that pleased the Father, manifested the truth that He was one with the Father. Thus, He prayed asking the Father to make us one with them.

St. John 17:9-11

9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

However, the Church treats oneness with God and His Son the same way the Pharisees treated Jesus’ oneness with the Father. They wanted to stone Jesus for declaring that He was the Son of God.

God has declared that those to whom the Word came are gods (Psalm 82). This means that when the Word came, we not only heard it; but we received it and were transformed by it.

This sounds blasphemous even in the Church, because the perception is that of man; and not of God. Like the Pharisees, the church has perceived this through the eyes of the flesh and not the Spirit.

. . . “because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God (St. John 10:33).”

The scripture proclaims Jesus Christ became even as we are; and that we are now as He is. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world (I John 4:17). This scripture does not say we have to get the mind of Christ; however, it does infer that we should not war against the mind of Christ we have been given.

St. John 10:32-36

32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

Philippians 2:5

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus

Oneness with God and the Son was achieved by receiving the mind of Christ. The mind controls the body; therefore, since we have the mind of Christ, we have His:

• Thoughts
• Emotions & Desires
• Faith
• Purpose
• Willingness to Suffer

When we received the Holy Ghost, we received the mind of Christ. Therefore, since Christ is one with the Father, we have the mind of Christ and God.

The patriarchs of the Old Covenant did not have the mind of God; therefore, God could not instruct them the same way He instructs us. They could not receive the mystery of Christ, because they were not born of the Spirit; but this mystery must be spiritually discerned.

Nevertheless, oneness was the plan of God from the beginning. He wanted sons who were neither like the angels nor Adam; He wanted sons like Him.

We cannot define God and His plan based upon our failures or lack of experiences.

1 Corinthians 2:16

For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

I Corinthians 2:11-12, 16

11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

There are leaders who have not allowed themselves to walk consistently in the Spirit, and their failure to remain in the Spirit dominates their thinking towards God and salvation. The mindset is, “We will never make the mark of perfection as long as we are in these human bodies”. The deception in this is that though they are not committing “blatant sin” and are diligent toward God, their sin is that of unbelief.

And the scripture declares that unbelievers will have their part in the lake of fire (Revelation 21:8).

In order to experience the Word of God, we have to consistently walk in the mind of Christ, which is simply walking in the Spirit. Even if one teaches the principles of God, he will not experience the peace or the victory in it, if he does not walk in it. For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans 14:17).

Beloved, when you hear a message that bears witness with your spirit, there is no room for unbelief. The message has already quickened your inner man; he has received it as truth. However, if you do not experience the truth you have received, it is because you have not given over to that truth. You have not become one with that truth.

Allowing yourself to walk in the mind of Christ means you become a slave to the will of the Father; and there is no controversy in you to do His will. If you do not walk in the Spirit, you will not be able to bring others into walking in the Spirit.

Unless you embrace oneness with God and Jesus Christ, there is no purpose, faith, or suffering. Oneness provides you with the mind of Christ, His faith, His purpose; and it allows you to be in fellowship with His suffering.

Philippians 2:5-8

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
