Fingerprints on the Mind: The Ear Gate

What we listen to, has an effect on us. This is why the enemy, promotes songs that inwardly degrade us. It causes women to call themselves and one another, female dogs, and men to identify with being whoremongers or violent. Why? The enemy knows the power of what we take into our conscious and subconscious mind. I want to clear up something, the words conscious and

subconscious are scientific terms the world uses to describe the makeup of humanity. The term subconscious, refers to the part of the mind of which one is not fully aware, but which influences one’s actions and feelings. However, we must remember that science does not concern itself with the spiritual makeup of man. Therefore, its study of the mind focuses on the works of the human brain. But when it describes that part of the mind or brain that houses information, that influences our actions and feelings - it is really the works of the soul. We know that it is the soul that controls the actions of the flesh. It is the soul that feels and renders emotional responses to our environment. That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

Ephesians

3:16. The soul is the inner man.

It is spirit and it also has spiritual parts that are not likely to be picked up on an x-ray machine. Thus, science tells us that the subconscious mind is like an incubator which gathers information without our permission. But that incubator is the imagination of the soul. What we see and hear is gleaned for preferences, pleasure, offense, or desire. We don’t know why we crave the Whopper or the Big Mac. The soul collects those images it saw on the billboards or the commercials that may have played on the radio or television. We don’t know why we start to move to certain songs (that are not gospel) but the soul identifies with them. So, let me be very clear about this; what science calls the subconscious mind, is really the soul and its imagination.

The ear gate is important to Satan; and he uses it well. He will use people to say negative things to us that will place an indelible fingerprint on the mind (soul) that can only be removed by God. Many of us heard hurtful things, sometimes from loved ones. These were people we loved or those with whom we had soulish ties. The spirit (soul) of a man will sustain (endure or maintain) his infirmity (weaknesses); but a wounded spirit (hurt or offended soul); who can bear? Proverbs 18:14.

Example 1:

A young boy might have been repeatedly told by his father, “you will never be anything but a failure.” Those words were captured in the imagination of the soul as they pierced the deepest emotions of the heart. The soul is wounded and unable to rightly process the spiritual happenings in its environment. He becomes blind to all but his efforts to prove his father wrong. He is obsessed with achieving some self-devised goals, until nothing is as important as becoming a success. Because he is driven by these words from his childhood, he is not sensitive to the pain, hurt or disappointment he inflicts in the lives of others. His focus is on his success and achievements. He has to secure an image that is acceptable to him, and that will only happen when he is convinced that he has made his father out to be a liar. Though he reaches his goals of ownership and joining the upper-class society, he is not happy because the paths that led him there are filled with casualties. These include his wife and children. His example of selfishness and self- centeredness has caused some of his children to be the same way. His wife became emotionally crippled and traumatized by his campaign to

dispel the fact that she is capable and smart, and maybe even smarter than him. Therefore, he must suppress her through constant criticism and disapproval. Then one day he realizes that

he is one of the unhappiest men on earth. He is surrounded by chaos and the unhappiness of loved ones. His leadership in the home has created selfishness and an inconsiderate attitude in one or more of his children. His wife is indifferent towards him; and he is in despair. Satan’s use of words years ago flowed in through the ear gate, and successfully destroyed an entire family.

This young man’s life was controlled by the words of a father who was used by Satan to place a fingerprint on his mind. These words wounded his soul and prevented him from being the husband and father he could have been. But what happens when God steps in? As I stated in the chapter on Destiny, our lives are predestined by God. Therefore, this is not the end of the story. When this man turns to the Lord, all that has happened in his life is defined. He is able to see the workings of the devil and the way the enemy used him over the years. He knows why he suffered the loss of substance, friends, and marriage. But in order for him to become a manifested son of God, he must not reopen the wound the Father healed at salvation. Now he must allow truth to flow through the ear gate. Faith in God comes by hearing; and hearing must be according to The Word of God. If it is necessary (and in this case it is) for God to strip him of all that he trusted in, then that is indeed what God will do. But when he finds himself penniless and at the mercy of others, he must not allow his soul to despair. He must embrace the truth and surrender to it. Self-pity is an expression of the pride that God is trying to destroy. The “woe is me,” attitude is a hateful disdain for the situation he finds himself in. It must be replaced with complete surrender to the will of God; without murmuring or complaining. He must gladly embrace his new fallen estate, before God can exalt him. He must look upon his situation as a learning experience for him and others. But if he is ashamed of

the chastening of the Lord, then he will abhor or hate his very existence. Thus, he will be of no use to the movement of God in the earth. He is not able to gladly embrace the Father’s will; because

he is ashamed to be humble. Instead he chooses to walk in self- pity, unforgiveness, and iniquity; secretly blaming others for his failures. Therefore, he will forfeit the leading of the Holy Ghost

into greener pastures. If you can identify with anything in this example, then open your ear gate to hear the word of God. Trust it and hold fast to all that it speaks. What you hear from God will close up the wound you re-opened. And you can be assured, that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; Ephesians 3:16 Your soul will be comforted; and then you will understand why Paul said, yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, Philippians 3:8. You too, can have this testimony if you would but open your ear gate to the word of God and allow it to become law for your life.

HEARING GOD

Satan has constructed a world that is polluted with spiritual filth that comes directly from the cesspools of darkness. He knows natural men prefer darkness; therefore, he is faithful to provide it. Perhaps his efforts are so fervent because he is aware that God can mightily use the ear gate. Remember ... faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Satan knows if anyone begins to listen to the Word of God, it will gender faith in them. The Word of God is powerful enough to destroy the yokes of perversion he has used to hold the souls of men captive. Hearing the Word opens a door to another world. This is the door Satan wants to remain shut. Therefore, he floods the ear gate with all manner of perversions and sensualities that stimulate and arouse the other senses. You see a billboard with a hamburger painted on it; and all of a sudden, the taste gate is open. The same is true in the spirit. What you hear goes directly to your soul and creates desire. This is just as true with God as it is with Satan. Listen to David.

Psalm 119:11

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee

If you are not born again but have a desire to come out of the prison Satan has placed you in, then put yourself in a position to hear the Word of God. If you think you are so addicted to the perverted music of our time, just turn it off and read your bible, or better yet, get a talking bible and listen to it every night. Allow it to put you to sleep. This Word of God is your first line of defence and the only antidote for the spiritual poison you have consumed for years. For those of you who are already living in the Kingdom of God, you know the Word of God is your only escape. Pull yourself up by the bootstraps if necessary. You have a treasure in your earthen vessel. So, let the light that God has placed in you, shine to the uttermost parts of your heart. It will dispel the darkness. Saved
