REVERSING DEATH

Let us review what we have learned thus far. In chapter 2, we discussed what happened when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit. The moment they did, they died a death which came in 3 forms:

1. An eventual separation from earth

2. An immediate separation from God

3. An immediate separation from each other

All this was because the spirit of death entered their bodies.

Romans 8:1-2

1. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Romans 7 is a scripture that many do not realize is speaking about an unsaved man. It speaks about this law of sin and death in detail saying,

Romans 7:23

But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

The word “members” refers to a body with many parts or simply put, body parts. The law of sin is the power of the devil that operates in the flesh of those who do not have the Holy Ghost. It is called a law because it governs the activities of the flesh, and the soul. As long as the law of sin and death is operating in the flesh, that individual must sin, and must die. This is what entered Adam and Eve the moment they sinned. They became possessed with the law of sin and death.

Ephesians 2 is a bit more specific when speaking concerning this law.

Ephesians 2:1-2

1. And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2. Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

There is a spirit that works inside of the children of disobedience (those who do not have the Holy Ghost). This spirit is the prince of the power of the air, who is satan himself, operating in the flesh. The law of sin and death is the power he produces as he dwells in the flesh, causing those that would desire to do good, never to be able to.

This is true captivity. The body, soul and human spirit (conscience) were all slaves to the will of the devil. It caused man to sin uncontrollably, and the wages of their sins were death. This explains why the man and the woman were separated. This is why it was so easy for the man to blame the woman and the woman the serpent; they were all possessed with the seed of the devil. The seed of satan was now in the man’s flesh, and in the man’s seed. Now every time he would produce a child, he would reproduce the seed of satan.

For this cause Jesus had to come, as the seed of the woman, because the seed of every man was corrupt with the law of sin and death. Thus, God came by His own holy seed, planted in the woman, so that Christ could come on the scene free from the law of sin. He was a spotless lamb, because he had spotless flesh. Where satan dwelt in the unsaved (the flesh), God dwelt in Him. This made Him spotless enough to be sacrificed on the cross for the sins of the world. He died in our place, so that we didn’t have to face the penalty of that death, if we would only receive Him.

He died on the cross in order to conquer sin in our lives, and He went to hell for 3 days and nights to conquer death. After this, He was raised from the dead, and

received great glory and honor!

Jesus conquered the law of sin and death, through His death. Through His death burial and resurrection, He received the ability to possess (fill with the Holy Ghost)

any person that would call on His name. To do so, He would have to destroy everything satan produced in that person and replace it with His own spirit. Thus, through Jesus Christ, all the power of death has been reversed.

1. Separation from Earth - Jesus Christ allows all who would receive Him to receive eternal life. It is by that life that they will rule and reign with Christ upon the earth forever. Even those that pass in this world, if they pass in Christ, they are termed by the scriptures to be asleep. They are waiting in heaven for the marvellous day when Jesus will crack the sky and give unto all the glory of the new body.

2. Separation from God - Jesus Christ is the Spirit of God, and by the Holy Spirit, we are made one with God (1 Corinthians 6:17); and His dear children.

3. Separation from each other - By the removal of the law of sin and death, Jesus has destroyed the middle wall of partition between us, which was self (see Chapter 2). The sons of God are no longer individuals, but they are all one in Christ.

Galatians 3:28

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Thus, today there is neither male nor female in Christ Jesus, because He has destroyed what separated us. We will go deeper into this concept as we continue.
