The Power of The Holy Ghost Pt 2: Looking upon Circumstances and Situations

It is very common for today’s prophets and pastors, as well as other members of the Body of Christ, to look upon situations, circumstances, and relationships; sort them out in their own heart, come up with a solution, and place the name of the Lord upon it. This is totally unacceptable. Furthermore, it is blasphemy. It is very presumptuous to place the name of the Lord on the deliberations of our own hearts.

Example: It is a common practice for prophets and pastors of today to become spiritual psychics in the congregation of God. They watch the circumstances and the demeanor of the people of God and prophesy to what they think they are seeing. Sad, but true, this is an expectation of the people. They have roamed from meetings, to conferences, to houses, and to churches; looking for someone to give them a personal word from the Lord. Why? Because this operation has been going on so long in the church, until it has become an accepted function of the gift of the prophet.

But we need to see the prophet through the eyes of the scripture.

"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son..." - (Hebrews 1:1-2). The Spirit of Jesus is alive in every born-again son of God. He is the Holy Ghost. Jesus came to the earth, “To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace” - (Luke1:79).

That same Jesus is in every born-again believer. He is here now in the presence of the Holy Ghost; and is continually guiding our feet into the way of peace. This peace refers to a response to life’s circumstances and situations that do not offend the Father.

This is the purpose and power of the Holy Ghost. This is personal guidance promised by God, to each and every one of us. This continual personal guidance is not the responsibility of the prophets of God. To continue this path is to ignore the Holy Ghost and His presence in you. It would be better for you to learn His voice and how to fellowship with Him than to ignore Him completely and arrogantly.

Oftentimes, the people of God enter into situations or, they are faced with circumstances that they have no control over the outcome. It is at these times they run from church to church, conference to conference, revival to revival, seeking a word from the man or woman of God which addresses their situation. This is not the intent of the Father. We are not to wander throughout the Body of Christ looking for a word that would remove our despair.

Jesus made provisions for all that we will encounter in this life. "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." (John 14:16-18). This again, is the power of the Holy Ghost. He is in us. He is our Comforter. But He is ignored. He is treated as though He is powerless in our situations and circumstances.

“DIRECT OUR WAY, LORD”

The Word has declared that He would lead and guide each of us. That’s right beloved, He will guide each of us individually. That is the promise of the Father. That is the function of the Holy Ghost. So where is the need for seeking out the prophets for a personal word? Such actions are a denial and a rejection of the truth. I must also assert here that many do this because they are not prepared to live in a manner that would allow them to fellowship with God.

Finally, I want you to see how invested the Godhead is in your life.

1 Thessalonians 3:11

11 Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.

Paul wanted to visit the Thessalonian church. His request in prayer was for the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ to direct their path to Thessalonica. Paul knew the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are One. Therefore, his prayer was that the Holy Ghost might lead them on a path that would take them back to the Thessalonians.

1 Thessalonians 3:12

12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another,and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

This teaching comes from an apostle who understands the mystery of God. It is Jesus, the Holy Ghost in you who will make you abound in love towards all men. This is the solution to all your situations or circumstances. Meet them with love and kindness. No matter what the events that occur, you maintain the character of Christ, which is love towards all men. He also cites that they have him and the others of his team as examples of this love.

1 Thessalonians 3:13

13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

Here Paul goes to the bottom line. It is the Lord, (the Holy Ghost), who will establish you holy and blameless before God. Blameless in what? Holy and blameless in every situation or circumstance. "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." (John 16:13).

There is no need to despair. There is no need to seek out the prophets of God for every situation you face. It is time for you to develop fellowship with the Holy Ghost. He is in you, waiting for you to acknowledge Him in all things.He will also show you things to come. That is awesome. He does these things so that you will not feel abandoned and alone. He is your Comforter; One who is aware of everything pertaining to your life in this world. He was there in eternity with the Father. He saw your life from its conception to its end. He knows all your enemies and friends. He has seen every trap and snare of the devil. He is not timid or afraid. He is your power over all the power of the enemy. That is the power of the Holy Ghost.

Therefore, stop ignoring Him. He was sent to get you back to glory. Honor Him, bless Him, reference Him, and trust Him.
