This might be one of the most important lessons you will encounter in your walk of faith. Let us be reminded that God is a God of purpose and order. Everything He does is by design.
Genesis 2:3-5
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
If you follow the script from the first chapter of Genesis, we see that the Lord had finished all the works of creation, including the making of man and woman. But here in the second chapter of Genesis, we see a reiteration of the same creation. However, this time we are told that we are about to read the account of all the generations of earth that have already played out in eternity. These are the generations that were lived out before any plant was put into the earth or any rain fell upon it. It is also the generational account of man before he was ever placed in the Garden.
Isaiah 46:9-10
9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,
10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
Now we can see why the counsel or Word of God, given to His servants, will stand. It is merely a telling of a true story. Thus, this defines truth. It is everything the Father declared before time began. It is every word, thought, or deed of every creature on the earth, witnessed by the Holy Ghost and stored in the foreknowledge of God. Therefore, predestination is the attribute of God that permits things He predetermined or decided to allow to manifest in time. In this operation, God, having seen and known the actions of every creature, was able to implement reward or judgment in the earth; (consider Sodom and Gomorrah). These predetermined events are now known as the will of God.
All that God has determined is immutable. The events will never change or be altered in any way. They will play themselves out exactly as they did in eternity.
Now, when the Lord speaks to His servants, He is speaking to them of the events already declared to be. Therefore, the Holy Ghost, bearing witness of these events, can only speak the truth. He is the Spirit of Truth. Truth is the details of the story of heaven and earth.
John 14:16-17
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you
John 14:26
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
The saga of man is already declared in eternity. Thus, even prophecy is merely a telling of the same story. It is a segment of the story revealed to the servants of the Lord before they are manifested in this place called time.
John 16:7
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
John 14:28-29
28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
The Holy Ghost was there, saints. In the beginning, the Lord spoke and the Spirit moved. He is the Word of God in action. He is the builder of the architectural design of the Father. He is the witness of everything the Father implemented. He has seen the lives, circumstances, situations, and relationships of all who live and die on this planet.
John 16:13-15
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
The Holy Ghost was there when God spoke to emptiness. He, the Holy Ghost, moved on the face of the water. It was the Holy Ghost who manifested all that was in the mind of God in Creation. The Holy Ghost opened the mouth of the prophets of old and caused them to speak the oracles of God. The Holy Ghost was on the cross with Jesus. It was the Holy Ghost who raised Him from the dead. It was the Holy Ghost who came to earth on the day of Pentecost to establish the church. It is the Holy Ghost who has taken the things of the Lord and has given them to the Church. It is the Holy Ghost who divides to every son his measure of the gift of Christ. He is the dispenser of the gifts we are to use to work the ministry of reconciliation.
