The Creation In Eternity

In order to really see the mind of the Father, we must go back to the beginning of time. In the first chapter of Genesis, we have the creation of all things laid out for us. We are told of the creation of the heavens, the earth and man. And in the first three verses of the second chapter, we learn that God rested from all his labor on the seventh day.

Genesis 2:1-3

1. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

2. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

3. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Oftentimes when this is read, it is only applied to the physical items mentioned in the first chapter. However, there are some other significant things that were done in the creation that up to this point, we have never considered. But Paul endeavors to enlighten us as to the true meaning of the seventh day.

Hebrews 4:3-4, 10

3. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

4. For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works …

10. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

God was able to rest because, not only were the heavens and the earth complete in their physical state, but all that would transpire on the earth and in the heavens were already determined. All the works of God’s hand were finished.

Isaiah 46:9-10

9. Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

10. Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

But I want us to follow the writings of the Prophet Moses as he details the creation.

Genesis 2:4-5

4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

5. And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

This word generations is the Hebrew word for 'families, and history', and 'appointed times'. “And every plant before it was in the earth; and every herb of the field before it grew.” What does this mean? It is simply

Moses’ way of saying, what you are about to read, is the history that took place before time. The rest of the Bible is a history of the things God has declared before there ever was a plant or herb-bearing tree on the earth.

The days of the creation were spelled out for us in chapter one of Genesis. Then he rested from all his labors. In God’s word, all means all. Therefore, the things that are now, as well as the things are not yet done in the earth, have already been. Solomon also spoke of this great trait of our God.

Ecclesiastes 3:15

That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

There are some things God made that are not listed in Moses' account of the creation.

Isaiah 57:16

16. For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always

wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls

which I have made.

I think that it is time for us to view the creation from God’s perspective. Every soul that existed or will ever exist was made by God. We tend to think of a soul coming into existence at its birth into this world. But that is simply not true. Adam was able to procreate that which is a living soul,

because God placed all the souls he created in Adam.

Genesis 4:1

And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

The Lord placed all the souls of the human race in the loins of Adam. The first man Adam was a living soul. The body is the birthplace of the soul. This is confirmed by Moses’ reference to Jacob.

Exodus 1:5

And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.

But let us not conclude that God placed these souls in Adam randomly. No, quite the contrary. He acquainted himself with every soul he created. He knew or experienced every one of us before we were ever birthed into the world.

Jeremiah 1:5

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

The point I seek to make here is that God made all souls before the world began, to manifest its generations. These souls were a part of the creation that existed before time.

Ezekiel 18:4

Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

Jesus also acknowledges that all souls belonged to the Father.

John 17:6

I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out

of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

Before we continue on, we want to focus on the fact that some souls, which God had made, were given to Jesus.

Ephesians 1:3-4

3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath

blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4. According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

It is made clear to us that this choosing took place before the Lord laid the foundations of the earth. Therefore it is evident that those who are heirs of salvation were chosen as such before the creation of this world.
