In the Form of God

Summary Scripture: Philippians 2:5-6

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

This is the least ministered subject in the whole gospel arena- the form of God as it relates to the children of God. It is true that the sons of God are the image of Christ in the Earth; “as he is, so are we.” However, we never stopped to consider the totality of that statement.

2 Peter 1:2

2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

The grace spoken of here is God’s influence in our inner man that is reflected in our life. The peace of God is contentment, lawfulness, non-violence and without distress.

But note that these attributes are only obtainable through the knowledge of God and our Lord Jesus Christ. This is so very important because the Lord said to me many years ago that it is the lack of the knowledge of God that has kept the church stagnated. Furthermore, it is the hesitancy of many sons to embrace the truth they know, that has caused them to perish. The truth that is given to us in this School of the Prophets is a final opportunity for some to come into agreement with God.

The Lord is very much aware of what we know and understand. He is faithful to lead us into all truth. v Nevertheless, you must decide what it is that you will believe and embrace. As we go further into the verses below, consider that the Holy Spirit is seeking to enlighten the eyes of your understanding and bring you into the truth about the sons of God. …

2 Peter 1:3-4

3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Take a moment to consider all that the Father has done in saving our souls. The Lord has given us all things that pertain to the life of a son of God. The first thing he did was create a union between the sons and the Godhead. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. (1 Corinthians 6:17).

Thus we are now of the same spirit as Christ. The soul has been transformed into a new creature. It is a quickening spirit, even as our Lord. There is no variance in this creation. It is the work of the Lord. We are the offspring of God. The scriptures say that God is a Spirit and is the Father of spirits, according to Hebrews 12:9.

But James takes the creation of the sons a bit further in his writings. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures (James 1:17-18). Listen to this report. James refers to the sons as lights. I don’t think we regard the true meaning of this. We place such a small meaning on the words of our Lord when he said, … I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life (John 8:12).

Jesus is the light that came into the world, to bear witness of the truth. Now, if the scriptures indeed hold true, we too must be lights. This is confirmed as the Lord continues to minister to the disciples . . . Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. (Matthew 5:14) I want us to take a look at this light that came from heaven into the world of men.

Exodus 33:18-23

18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.

19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.

20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

21 And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:

22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:

23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

Take note of the fact that God’s testimony is that no man can look onto him in his glory and live. Now the Lord granted Moses his request and allowed him to see his hind parts. And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him. Exodus 34:30. We serve the same God that Moses served. He was light then, and he is light now. John testified of the same when he said, this then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5).

This great light is the spiritual makeup of our Father. Does it not follow that it would also be the makeup of his children?

Jesus is the first of many brethren; implying that all the children of God are as he is. Well, if we take a look at the physical makeup of our Lord, we might be inclined to believe in our very own spiritual body.

Matthew 17:2

2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

This transfiguration revealed the true appearance of our Lord. His soul was joined to that of God; and his personage was as bright as the sun. The point here is that God wrapped his son in flesh so that mankind could behold him. The same is true of us. We have been made to remain in the flesh so that we might be able to walk among the sons of Adam, working the ministry of reconciliation. These earthen vessels are protection for the human race. It would be impossible for them to look upon our true nature: “As he is, so are we.”
