The Teachings of Christ

To walk in the Spirit of Life is to walk in perfect love. We know that perfect love casts out all fear. The reason this is so precious and powerful is because the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth and is able to bear witness with our spirit that we are indeed the Sons of God.

The Word is simply a verbal expression of the deeds of the Holy Ghost, and the Holy Ghost is simply an operation of the spoken Word. Whatever we read in the Word of God, the Holy Spirit has already performed it in Himself. Furthermore, He has guaranteed its manifestation in its season.

Unfortunately, much of the Church does not yet agree that it is spirit. It still identifies with its natural body. This is the captivity of the mind. It is deceived because it is unrenewed in the Word of God. It refuses to accept that the innerman is supreme in authority and power. It will never surrender unless it is taught the pure Word of God. The purity of the Word is the only power that can break the captivity of the mind.

The mind must be exposed to the truth. It must be fed the knowledge of God. The knowledge of God is experience. The mind must experience this knowledge if it is to change. It is the knowledge of God that holds the power of love. Love is the only real power of change. It is the love of God that the mind will experience (inside of the knowledge it receives) that will gender change in the deeds of the flesh. Then, we will walk in the Spirit.

I have always believed that the way to fully comprehend the doctrines of the Bible is to go back to the source of the doctrine for study. It is the Lord Himself who laid down the mindset of the born-again believer. He taught the mind of the kingdom in no uncertain terms. Later in the epistles written by His disciples, we are given more detail as to how to accomplish this mind of the Son of God.

Here, I think it is necessary to reiterate or explain what I mean by “to accomplish” this mind. I truly believe that the Body of Christ and even those who have been privy to the revelation of the “Walk in the Spirit” have not fully understood the method by which the mind of Christ becomes evident in our daily walk.

St. Matthew 22:37-38

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

This passage is the first time the Lord mentions the mind in any of His teachings. Note that the Lord declares one must love God the Father with all their heart, which for the sons of God includes the hidden man of the heart, and/or the spirit or conscience (the new creature). The soul also, which is the spirit of the mind, and the fleshy mind itself must be consumed with love for the Father.

If we are to walk in the spirit, we must obey this commandment. There is no other way to accomplish the will of God in this body of vanity.

Now if you ask any born-again believer if he or she loves the Father, I am sure that each of them would say, “Yes.” Nevertheless, the Lord said that if we loved Him, we would keep His commandments. The truth is, most of us have not kept the commandments. We have sinned, and walked in the vanity of this flesh. Why? Why have we found it so hard to love the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind? Well, once again, we need to dissect the facts here.

1. We are born-again; therefore, our life (being) is in Christ.

2. Christ is the Master. He is the life who has pleased the Father. He is the

only one who can love the Father according to the above commandment.

3. If we never submit to Him as the Master, then we will never overcome

opposition to righteousness.

You see the problem is that most try very hard to submit to a far-away Christ. We focus on the words of that Christ who walked the earth two thousand years ago. However, that Christ lives in us right now. He is the same today as He was yesterday. He is the one who loves the Father and refuses to disobey Him. He is the Christ who gave His life for the sins of others. He is ready and able to do the same today. We, however, want to serve the Christ who sits on the right hand of God. We find it difficult to submit to the Jesus who lives within.

Nevertheless, as I stated earlier, we must go back to the beginning. We must go back to the forming of the Church. It was Christ Jesus who taught the disciples. They are called disciples because He imparted His mind unto them. They heard Him and were taught by Him.

The Word, Jesus taught the disciples, is recorded for us in the book of Matthew. It is here that we are first exposed to the mind of Christ. It is these teachings that the Church does not intend to accomplish. They have been overlooked, and placed on some missionary programs as good five-minute segments of a preach-a-thon.

But if we look closer at what the Master had to say, we will find it is those teachings that are the heart and mind of the Father. Without obedience to the teachings of Christ, we have no part with the Father.

Now I am going to insert those teachings here as a matter of record. If you are reading this material without the tapes that accompany it, then I would very much advise you to order the tapes. They will make you privy to my exposition on this subject. Here in the scripture, I will only be able to expound on a few of the verses in these chapters.

St. Matthew, Chapters 5, 6 and 7, expose us to the mind of Christ. These chapters reveal the character of the faith. To walk in their attributes is to bring forth a manifestation of the Son of God.

The above three chapters are the most disregarded in the Bible. Saints do not even consider being as they suggest. They are seldom, if ever, taught as a state of being for the New Creature. I sat in the traditional church for twelve years and never knew that the Lord really required me to live as Jesus described. This is the testimony of most Christians. Pastors do not teach as Christ, Paul and Peter taught. Perhaps this is due to the absence of Apostolic Order, forbidding the revelation of the mystery of godliness. However, that is not the case with BTI. We have the mystery at hand; we understand it and rejoice in it. All that is left is to walk in it.

Romans 10:1-4

1 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Sad to say, this is also the testimony of the Church. We too, have a zeal of God, but not according to the knowledge we have received. Now that the law of righteousness is fulfilled in Christ, we are no longer ignorant of the righteousness of God. However, we have not submitted ourselves to that righteousness that dwells within us.

Our very Spirit bears witness that we are the sons of God. We know that Christ lives in us. He, in whom there is no unrighteousness, is able to live through us. He is able to declare the righteousness of God in our flesh, if we would only submit. However, we do not. It is as simple as that. Instead, we submit to the workings of our fleshy mind.

Furthermore, though we are reluctant to admit it, Christians have decided that they are not going to live such a passive and humiliating lifestyle anyway. It is as if the teachings of Christ were for some other generation or race of beings.

We must challenge this mindset. The Beatitudes, as we call them, are for the New Creature. He is the only being on this earth who can walk in such righteousness. Likewise, He is the only being commanded to do so.
