The Great Falling Away Part I

MOVED BY A SPIRIT

It is very obvious the Lord is preparing the Church for the time of the end. This is a time of perfecting and a season of self-denial and sacrifice. The Lord has visited us with much truth that must be applied or we will perish with the rest of the world.

II Thessalonians 2:2

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

Example #1:

Deuteronomy 13:1-3

1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,

2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;

3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul; . . .

Note that the Lord will allow false prophets to prophesy things that will come to pass. However, the bottom line or purpose of the sign or wonder is to remove you from serving the true and living God. If in their counsel provisions are made for the pleasures of the flesh, then we are not to adhere to them.

A sign, wonder or prophecy is given to make you a believer in those who deliver such prophecies. Their intent is to lead and guide you into darkness. The sign or wonder strengthens your belief in the person through whom the devil is using.

But the Lord cautions us to look for the safeguard in signs and wonders for we must always be directed to glorifying the Father. If the sign or the wonder exalts flesh in any way, they are of the devil. This will be one of the most effective tools of the enemy used in the latter days to beguile unstable saints.

Take note that these signs and wonders will be performed by spirits working with individuals here on the earth. These are familiar spirits, spirits of anti-christ which are already in the world today and are on assignment to persuade man to follow after “THE LIE.”

The truth is saints themselves run after signs and wonders more than they pursue the power of love. Love teaches us how to live through offenses, pain and disappointment as well as how to bear the infirmities of others. However, the spirit of anti-christ will beguile many of the people of God except they become rooted and grounded in the power of love. For love is not blind, nor is it gainsaying. It looks for no reward. It is forbearing and void of wantonness, which brings us to another point.

False signs and wonders are designed also to strengthen wantonness, for they provide hope that the worker of such is able to relieve or make prosperous those that dare to follow. This is why the Church must at all cost rid itself of all wantonness and learn to live a lifestyle of self-denial. Wantonness is a snare, a trap set by Satan to cause the saints of God to fall from the faith.

In the Church will arise hireling shepherds, leaders who at one point knew the Lord but followed after the way of Balaam. Remember, they stayed in the faith long enough to know the movements and desires of the saints, and therefore they are able to manipulate them.

Some will use the anointing God gave them to strengthen their position in the lives of the people and will work their positions to the maximum surrender of their congregations. There will also be those from whom the Lord will remove His Holy Spirit, and an evil anointing from Satan will enter. (Remember Saul.) According to the Apostle Peter, their latter end will be worse than the former, as they knew the way but refused to walk in it.

Paul also says of these who refused to retain the knowledge of God, they were given over to a reprobate mind (Romans 1:28). They loved “The Lie" rather than “The Truth,” and will go all the way to the dishonoring of their bodies between themselves, men with men and women with women, doing that which is unseemly. This answers why there are so many homosexuals in the pulpits of God's house.

Deuteronomy 13:4-5

4 Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.

5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.

It is the responsibility of the watchmen in the house of God to identify and remove such abominations from the congregation of the Lord. According to the above scripture, these workers of iniquity may speak the truth, so it is essential to discern their true motives, character and purpose.

Example #2: (moved by spirits)

I John 4:1-2

1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

John is revealing the method by which we are to try a spirit. Every situation, set of circumstances or relationship provides an opportunity for you to witness the mindset of a prophet. Even if you are not aware of his lifestyle, somewhere in his discourse will be an opportunity to display the mind of Christ that should be supplied in any fleshly situation. This disposition can be heard in the message of an individual prophecy or group prophecy.

Discern whether the true will of the Father is in the prophecy. In other words, is the prophecy a divine expression of the Father? This is why we must become skillful workmen in the body because Satan is able to disguise himself as an angel of light.

I John 4:3-5

3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

False prophets speak of the world and their prophecies will always be slanted toward the ways of the world, which make provisions for the flesh and seek to fulfill the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life.

I John 4:6

6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

Micah 2:10-11

10 Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction.

11 If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.

This world is not a resting place for the saints of God. It is polluted and destructive to our souls. However, there will be those who walk in the spirit of this world, carrying the anointing of the god of this world. Those saints who chose this world as their place of rest will be subservient to the lying prophets of Satan.

This is the only way Satan can move saints away from the faith by causing them to lose sight of the promise of God for a better home, and accepting the temporary relief and/or prosperity offered by the god of this world. Remember, Satan offers nothing without a price! To submit to the temporal is to serve mammon and submit to the spirit of anti-christ.

The spirits that are not of God are those that speak of the things pertaining to the world. They provide sensual wisdom and will also make provisions for the pleasures of the flesh. The bottom line of their counsel is to move you away from God’s purpose.

Example #3:

Jeremiah 23:16-32

16 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD.

17 They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.

18 For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?

19 Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.

20 The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.

21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.

22 But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.

23 Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off?

24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? Saith the LORD.

25 I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.

26 How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart;

27 Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.

28 The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD.

29 Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

30 Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour.

31 Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He saith.

32 Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.

Example #4: (Moved by a word)

2 Peter 2:1-3

1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

One of the key points to note here is that many will follow after these false teachers. Why? Because they will speak evil of the way of righteousness. Leaders will make merchandise of the people because the saints will choose this world as a place of rest and hope, rather than wait on the promise of the Father.

The Lord will allow this to happen, even in the Church. For as He has stated in previous scripture, these things come to try the hearts of the people of God to see if they love the Lord more than this world. Yes, the Lord will judge His people.

Beloved, let us remain steadfast and immovable that we may always abound in the work of the Lord.
