The Church Is His Body

As I prepared to hear from the Lord regarding that which He wanted me to rehearse at the School of the Prophets a year ago; not only did I hear the Word of the Lord, but I saw His intent for the Body of Christ as well.

He said, “You have looked in my Word and seen, but you have not known the deep things of God.” Even as Daniel prayed for God to reveal the plight of his people; even so I prayed that He would speak to us that we might know the way we are to take and not be found stumbling in the dark. Though the Lord spoke a Word of power and grace in that meeting I have always believed there was still another depth we had not obtained.

This time I asked the Lord, “Why have I seen, yet have not known the deep things of God?” He was swift in responding to me. “My people had to grow up in my Spirit; for up until now they were not able to bear the things I would now say to them. Even now many will not believe this Word. But there are those who will hear and receive the knowledge of their salvation. They are my sheep and their heart is to truly know me and the great works I have done on their behalf.”

The Lord made me know that we had not fully grasped the true implications of the Word He delivered to us in the last School of the Prophets. I want to go back to one of the scriptures He rendered to us a year ago.

Psalm 139:14-16 (KJV)

14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought (made colorful, variegated or embroidered.)

These words “curiously wrought” refer to the integration of two different substances intertwined together to make one. The type of this intermingling of divinity with humanity is also illustrated in the High Priest garment wherein gold was beaten into fine threads and intertwined with linen threads to form the collar. in the lowest parts of the earth. It was in the deep parts of the earth or the nether parts that the Body of Christ was formed. It was there that the souls of all who would accept Christ were made one with Him. It was an answer to the prayer Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, Father make them one, even as we are one. Furthermore, this activity in the lower parts of the earth is also verified in Paul’s writing to the church at Rome. Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

16 Thine eyes did see my substance, (you saw my body) yet being unperfect; (before it was made perfect. While they were yet in sin you chose them to be in me. They are the workmanship of your hand.) and in thy book all my members were written, (you wrote their names in the Book of Life.) which in continuance were fashioned, (in the process of time, or when the time came; the dispensation of grace and truth it manifested that they would be perfect and complete in me) when as yet there was none of them.

When Christ was raised from the dead, the Church was raised in His loins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: (Heb. 10:5 KJV). It must be received in your spirit that we are the literal body of Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:12-14, 18-20 (KJV)

12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

14 For the body is not one member, but many.

18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?

20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.

The scriptures above generally are not taken at face value in the church. But they are the essence of our salvation. Unless we embrace these truths we could never hope to please the Father.

Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. (1 Cor. 6:15 KJV).

To be the body of Christ simply means the church is able to stand upon the earth in the fullness of the statue of the man Jesus (Eph. 4:13). Nevertheless, it also means that as He is so are we in this world today. Therefore, any act, deed or thought that is not the mind of Christ is sin for the sons of God. When we are told to present our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable unto God, this is no less than a commandment from the Master. This is sad, because most Christians do not believe in the severity of sin. Most have made allowances they believe are sanctioned by God. But the truth is, we are very Christ and can live as He lived because we have been given His mind and His faith.

So what does hinder us? Could it be that light has come yet we still love the darkness? It is a marvelous work indeed that the Father has wrought in us. He has fashioned us as the Body of His firstborn. We are born of the Spirit and partakers of His Divine nature. The true sons will hold fast to the faith and glorify the Father through holiness that can only be found in their walk in the Spirit.
