Chapter 2 According To His Will

The most sought after revelation in the Body of Christ is, “How do I know if what I’m asking for, is according to the will of God?” Well Beloved,that does not have to be a dilemma any longer. Let’s just walk through this.

1 John 5:14-15

14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing

according to his will, he heareth us:

15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Here we want to focus on John’s declaration, “according to his will.” According to this disciple, it is not a matter of wondering if the Lord is going to respond favorably to your requests, it is a matter of knowing whether He hears you. The apostle relieves us of the burden of this dilemma by stating emphatically that when we ask according to the will of

God, He hears us. Therefore, as I stated earlier, it is not a matter of whether we will receive from the Lord, it is a matter of whether we are asking according to His will.

Saints this is so important. If you get this principle, it will change your life completely. Asking according to the will of God, is not complicated. Let us follow the apostle Paul as he explains it further.

Hebrews 13:20-21

20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

God has made us perfect in every good work, to do His will. It is the Lord who works His will in and through

us. It is the Lord who is doing that which is well pleasing to Himself. Our only responsibility is not to oppose the work of the Father through us. I hope you really get what the Word is saying here. It is the life you live that has been according to the will of God. Here in this instance, the scripture is not teaching us to consider whether our petition is according to the will of God, but rather, whether our life is according to the will of God. Are you allowing the Father to work in you that thing

that is pleasing to Him? That is the issue. If you can answer yes, then you should know that you have what you asked. When we live according to the will of God, we have confidence in asking in prayer and in ministry.

Consider the following scriptures:

1 Peter 4:19

19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well

doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Even through offenses, we are to live according to the will of God, never breaking any of His commandments. Do not allow offenses or the offensiveness of people to modify your behavior. Deal with them according to the will of God and you will maintain confidence in prayer and ministry.

1 Peter 4:2

2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

Note here, Peter really spells it out. The sons of God are no longer to live their lives after the flesh, or (to those

lusts that would be lived out in the flesh); but we are to live according to the will of God. To do so, is to keep His commandments.

1 John 3:22

22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

Again, we have the apostle confirming the truth about the kind of life that would guarantee a response from the

Father. It is a life that is lived according to the Word of God. This is true holiness and purity of heart. Your takeaway from this chapter should be that praying or asking according to the will of God, has nothing to do with knowing whether the petition is according to the will of God, (this He will reveal); but it is about knowing that you are “living” according to the will of God. He is able to work His will in and through you. I was about to close this chapter, when the Holy Ghost

said, “Don’t let them miss that.” Asking according to the will of God, has nothing to do with knowing whether the petition is according to the will of God, (this He will reveal).

When it comes to knowing if your petition is the will of God, He will reveal that to you in prayer and in ministry. If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it (1 John 5:16).

Consider the fact that we were not taught prayer or ministry from God’s perspective. Therefore, someone could ask, “What happened when you prayed about something and it did not happen or was not the will of God. Is this then a lack of belief or trust?” I want you to understand that all scripture is true. The Lord said, and whatsoever we ask, we receive of him. It would be deception on God’s part, if He allowed us to believe He is going to do something that He has no intention of doing.

Therefore, it is a certainty that the Lord will reveal to us in prayer that which is not His will, and/or He will make us aware beforehand of that thing He is not going to do in ministry. The only thing you must concern yourself with is living holy, walking in the Spirit, pleasing God. If you are faithful in this, then you are living your life according to the will of God. If so, then surely you can know that you will have whatever you ask.
