The Antichrist Is Already Positioning: Reading the Present Hour

One of the most dangerous assumptions a believer can make is the assumption that we have plenty of time. 'Surely these events are decades away,' the comfortable mindset says. 'Surely there will be clear warning signs. Surely I will have time to get serious about the Kingdom later.' But the prophetic clock is not running on the schedule that most people assume, and the evidence of that is all around us for those who have eyes to see.

Let me challenge a foundational assumption first. The Roman calendar, the Gregorian calendar that we use today, has its own history of adjustments, corrections, and political manipulations. When we say we are in the year 2024, we are trusting a system of reckoning that has been revised multiple times over the centuries. Many serious scholars of biblical chronology argue that the actual calendar, measured from the birth of Christ, places us much closer to the two-thousand-year mark than the Gregorian calendar suggests. When you factor in the various adjustments and corrections that have been made to the Roman calendar over the centuries, we may be approaching 2000 years from the birth of Christ rather than being twenty-six years beyond it. This matters because the prophetic significance of the two-thousand-year period since the Day of Pentecost, the last days, may be much closer to its conclusion than most people realize.

Beyond the calendar question, look at what is happening in the world around you right now. There was a time when Middle East politics dominated every news cycle. Every development involving Israel, the Arab nations, Turkey, and the surrounding region was analyzed, debated, and reported constantly. But something has shifted. There is a growing silence around these issues in mainstream discourse, a quiet that is not the absence of activity but the concealment of it. When political and geopolitical movements go quiet, it is often not because nothing is happening. It is because what is happening is not ready to be seen yet. Unseen work is underway, and the silence is itself a sign.

The Antichrist is not going to appear suddenly out of nowhere. He is being positioned. The systems, the alliances, the technologies, and the political structures that he will use to consolidate global power are being assembled right now. And one of the most significant tools in his coming arsenal will be artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence represents the greatest technological leap in human history. The ability to process vast amounts of information, to identify and track individuals, to control economic systems, to generate and disseminate propaganda, to monitor and analyze the behavior of billions of people simultaneously: these capabilities are precisely what a global authoritarian system would need to implement the mark of the beast. The surveillance capacity alone, the ability to know who has the mark and who does not, to restrict access to commerce for those who refuse it, is made possible by AI in a way that would have been impossible even twenty years ago.

But here is the remarkable thing. The same tool that the Antichrist will use as his greatest weapon against mankind is the very tool that God is instructing His people to use right now for the advancement of the gospel. The internet, artificial intelligence, digital technology: these are the modern equivalent of the Roman road system that allowed the early Church to spread the gospel across the known world in a single generation. God knows how to use the tools of the age for His purposes.

Consider the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8. One man, Philip, was sent by the Spirit to a road in the desert, where he encountered one Ethiopian official reading the scroll of Isaiah. Philip explained the gospel to him, baptized him, and that one man carried the Word back to Ethiopia. One encounter, one conversation, one person sent by the Spirit, and an entire nation received the seeds of the gospel. God knows how to expedite the spread of His Word when His people are available and obedient.

Now imagine what God can do with the internet. One video, one message, one piece of content created by a Spirit-filled believer can reach millions of people in nations where no missionary has ever set foot. One investment in digital gospel content can produce fruit in languages and cultures that you will never visit in person. The same technology that the enemy intends to use for control, God intends to use for harvest. But only if His people wake up to the urgency of the hour and stop sleeping in the comfort of their own affairs.

We do not have ten years. I do not believe we have seven. The signs are converging, the systems are being positioned, and the window for effective gospel advancement through these technologies is open right now. The question is whether the Church will seize it or sleep through it.
