Chapter 3: God Defines Homosexuality

It is time for the Body of Christ to grow up and out of tradition. There is too much captivity in the world for us to be caught up in judgmental spirits and condemnation. Tradition has been so absorbed by its own salvation experience, until it has lost its compassion and mercy for those who are still lost and out of the way. We can no longer be shocked by activities or the acronyms by which the homosexual community chooses to identify themselves. We call ourselves Christian because of what it means to us; well, they call themselves LGBT, (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender) because of what it means to them.

First, let me say that you will not find the term ‘homosexual’ in the Bible. However, this is also true of the word ‘rapture.’ But we do see the rapture of the church defined and described throughout scripture. The same is true of homosexuality.

The Bible Definitions of Homosexual

Romans 1:22-27

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Below are the modern-day terms used to describe this sect of ordinary people living among us in today’s world.

Homosexual: A person who is sexually attracted to people of the same sex.

This is the textbook definition of homosexual. Now this term can be used to identify both males and females who are involved in same sex activities. But for the sake of this lesson we will make a distinction between the two, by referring to the female homosexuals as lesbians; and the male-factor as sodomites; as this is how the scriptures refer to men who are given over to sex with other men.

This is confirmed in the following passage. There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel (Deuteronomy 23:17).

Sodomite is a Chaldean word in the Old Testament meaning: quasi- seemingly; apparently but not really: a sacred male used in licentious (wicked, lustful, and immoral), idolatry. A male prostitute.

In Biblical times, during the days of Sodom and Gomorrah, the men of those cities practiced licentious idolatry in the worship of the male body through lustful sex. Thus, confirming the passage above…And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man. The glory and worship once given to God was given to men in unclean sexual acts. The term sodomite, however, was only used in the Old Covenant. In the New Testament the word for a male homosexual is…

Effeminate: The word means catamite: In ancient Greece the term catamite, referred to a boy as the passive or receiving partner in anal intercourse with a man. But in the New Testament it is any boy or man who is the receiving partner in anal sex. Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind… (1 Corinthians 6:9). Pedophile: Sodomite, catamite, and lesbian behavior also includes what the world calls pedophilia. It is the sexual activity of men and women with children.

Usually when pedophilia is mentioned it is in the context of men having sex with children. But there are many women who are pedophiles as well. They molest young boys and girls. This pedophilia behavior has shaped the lives of many who grow up to be conflicted, lustful, confused and/or violent. Man calls these acts of child molestation sexual abuse, but God refers to those who participate in any form of unnatural sex as those who are without natural affection. Paul included this sexual behavior in his letter to Timothy.

2 Timothy 3:1-4

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

The phrase “without natural affection” is translated from one Greek word, which means “inhuman, unloving, and unsociable.”

In addition, there is a principle found in the Lord’s words about children. Jesus used a child to teach His disciples that childlike faith is necessary for entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven. At the same time, He said that the Father has concern for all of His “little ones” (Matthew 18:1-14). In that passage, Jesus says, “But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea”(Matthew 18:6).

The word offend: as it is used in the original Greek text means…

1. To cause one to stumble: the word stumble here means to weaken, to ruin, to fall, to be overthrown, and to cast down. Many young lives have been weakened and caused to fall into despair, degradation, and ruin through sexual abuse.
2. To put a stumbling block or impediment in the way of others so they may fall:

Child abuse impedes the normal development of a child. Many minds are warped in their thinking and emotions are disrupted and distorted. The sexual abuse of a child can in some cases create an impediment of natural affections; that will not allow the victim to enjoy the love and physical affection of a spouse in later years.

3. To entice to sin: Many times, the abused becomes the abuser. And quite often, the abused will find their way into homosexuality to avoid contact with the same sex of their abuser. For example, many abused girls end up lesbians to avoid relationships with men. Many boys grow up not knowing how to cope with women, since their primary sexual experience was with their male abusers.
4. To cause a person to distrust and desert one whom he ought to be able to trust and obey.

Most of the cases of prolonged child sexual abuse is perpetrated by relatives or close friends of the family. These are authority figures and symbols of protection. But to the child, they turn out to be demons, creeping into the child’s bed and ravishing their little bodies.

What happens to the mind of a child in such cases? They do not understand why this is happening. Who do they tell? Who can they trust? This distrust becomes imbedded in their little minds and they grow up not trusting anyone.

They tend to be introverted not willing to let anyone into their true feelings.

All these definitions are from the word offend. They are certainly relative to pedophilia.

It is unnatural for a father to sleep with his daughter, or a mother or aunt to seduce her son or nephew. In fact, it is unnatural for any adult to rape children of their childhood through acts of sex. Fathers molest their sons and daughters, and aunts molest their nephews without the least bit of consideration for the perversion of life they are causing in that child’s mind. They also never consider the fact that one day these children will be adults, whose lives will become a fractured and twisted reality, due to the spiritual fingerprints they left on these precious little minds.

But there is a prevailing mindset in many of those who have committed such acts against children, that is a tremendous work of deception. Without an encounter with God, most pedophiles never admit or take on any responsibility for the ungodly behavior of their victims as they become adults. Many can interact with their victims as if they did nothing to shape that person’s ungodly or even unnatural behavior. In some bizarre cases, those abusers, who have become Christians, are very judgmental of their victims. This is because, even as Christians, they fail to acknowledge the role they played in shaping the character of their victims. Because they have judged their victims’ behavior, now the Father is judging their ungodliness. This is a level of willful blindness, which will shut the door of the Kingdom in your face.

Now if you are caught up in such acts, but desire to be free, then you must be true to your commitment to allow the Bible to be the authority. When you agree with God, then it is possible to become a partaker of the benefits of His grace. So, do not get offended by the truth, instead use it to break the chains of bondage you have suffered. Fornication:

Galatians 5:19

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, … In both the Greek (New Testament), and the Hebrew, (Old Testament), the word fornication has the same meaning. It is from a root word porneia, from which we get the English word porno. And of course, porno is the root word for pornography.

Fornication is referred to in the scriptures as any illicit sexual activity, (unlawful, forbidden, or sex outside of marriage). However, in the world today, it has escalated to include, peepshows, strip clubs, magazines, movies, and the gathering and trading of nude and sexually obscene pictures of children for the pleasures of adults. But one might ask, how are these things considered fornication? Well the answer is clear; For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he… (Proverbs 23:7). But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart (Matthew 5:28).

Thus, it is not wise to attend, watch, or read pornography if you are indeed seeking to be loosed from such sexual addictions. Do not try to find justification for watching such movies and the like. Regardless, whether you are born-again or not, you do so because that is what is in your heart. All these sins start in the heart first. However, those who do not know the Lord are controlled by a power stronger than their own will.

Nevertheless, those of you who are born of the Spirit, involve yourself in such things by choice. Jesus taught us this principle. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man (Mark 7:21-23). When saints watch sexually explicit movies, or find themselves in clubs that promote lewdness, it is because that is what is in their heart.

Lesbianism: sexual activity between women or young girls …for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: (Rom. 1:26).

The term ‘lesbian’ is a term that is thought to mean, from the island of Lesbos, a Greek island, and home of the poet, Sappho. In the 6th century a group of young women were left in the charge of the female poet, for instruction and cultural edification. During this time, the poems of Sappho focused on the beauty of women and her love for girls.

Zoophilia: cross-species sexual activity. It is sex between a human being and an animal. When a human being is sexually attracted to an animal it is called zoophilia; (just as an attraction to children is called pedophilia). But the sexual act itself is also known as bestiality.

This is not new to this dispensation. We find that God addressed this issue with the children of Israel, after He brought them out of Egypt.

Leviticus 18:23

Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

Leviticus 20:15-16

15 And if a man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to death: and ye shall slay the beast.

16 And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down thereto, thou shalt kill the woman, and the beast: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

From these scriptures we see that in the days of Moses, men and women would have sex with the beasts of the field. But we also see that the punishment for such acts was death for the man or woman, and the beast. There are many other areas of sexual activity that we could cover in this book; however, homosexuality as defined here is the root of all that will be discussed in this study. If you are a member of the LBGT community, then you might not agree with me that homosexuality is a sin. And immediately you might want to trash this book along with all the other so-called ‘haters’ material. But I plead with you my sister, and my brother, hear me out. To declare that homosexuality is sin, is not equal to me judging or condemning you to eternal damnation. If that were the case, then I would have to judge and condemn myself, and all who have sinned before God, to hell. Let down your defenses. The mere fact that you are interested in this subject says that there is a still small voice within you that is crying out for help and understanding.
