Chapter 1: The Weapons of God’s Warfare

Before we go into the study of biblical prophecy, I want us to take the time to consider some things that are grossly overlooked. We are told that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God, to the pulling down of strongholds. Therefore, we do not fight flesh and blood, but our battle is with principalities and the powers of darkness in heavenly places.

But what about God? What happens when God is ready to deal with His enemies? What are the weapons of His warfare? Well, that is what this chapter is all about. I want you to see and understand this side of the Father that has been minimized or overlooked in the church. Below are some passages that give us insight as to the weapons of God’s warfare.

Job 38:22-23

22 Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,

23 Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war? The snow and the hail has been reserved or stored up for the day of trouble, battle and war.

Psalm 148:8

Fire, and hail; snow, and vapour; stormy wind fulfilling his word:

Again we see fire, hail, snow, and vapor, (smoke), and strong winds are weapons used to fulfill God’s word and will.

Isaiah 28:2

Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.

Isaiah 28:17

Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

Isaiah 30:30

And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.

Ezekiel 13:11-13

11 Say unto them which daub it with untempered morter, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it.

12 Lo, when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said unto you, Where is the daubing wherewith ye have daubed it?

13 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even rend it with a stormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in my fury to consume it.

Ezekiel 38:22

And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

Haggai 2:17

I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD.

Revelation 8:7

The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

Revelation 11:19

And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

Revelation 16:21

And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.

Now let us take a look into where these weapons of God’s warfare are reserved or stored. This can be discovered in God’s descent into Hell to retrieve His Son.

CHRIST TAKEN FROM HELL

Psalm 18:3-6

3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

4 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.

5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.

6 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

In the verses above, Jesus describes His trauma and His prayers in which He cried out to His Father for deliverance from the powers of hell and death. Needless to say, the Lord heard His cry and answered speedily.

Below we see details of the trip the Father took from the third Heaven to the pit of Hell.

Psalm 18:7

7 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.

Before He even left Heaven the earth began to shake and tremble. There was an earthquake in the earth simply due to the anger of God.

Psalm 18:8-9

8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet. Smoke from his nostrils, and fire from his mouth was so hot that it lit coals. He bowed, or rather pushed back the heavens; or caused them to fold back out of His way. He stepped out of the heavens and stood upon darkness. Oh, so this is where one of the weapons of His warfare, ‘thick darkness’ is stored.

Psalm 18:10

And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind. In all their knowledge and space explorations, scientists have not been able to discover the mighty wind in outer space.

Psalm 18:11-18

11 He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion (a booth, covering, or temporary shelter), round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

12 At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.

13 The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.

Here we see that on the way traveling through the heavens, the Father passes through the storage where He has preserved the hailstones and coals of fire.

14 Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

The Lord shot out His arrows; apparently He had a bow. His arrows here are bolts of lightning that caused the hailstones and coals of fire to move aside, out of His path.

15 Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

There are channels of waters in the heavens; another weapon of warfare.

16 He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.

The word waters as it is used here carries the meaning “much violence, and danger.”

17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.

18 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay. Death and Hell were the enemies that as He said ‘prevented’ Him. But the Lord, God, Almighty, was His ‘stay’ or support and protector.

The weapons of God’s warfare are stored in the heavens, preserved for the day of trouble, vengeance, wrath and war. It is a day that God will unleash these and other weapons upon all those who reject Christ and keep not His commandments.

Purpose in your heart that you will not be one to experience God’s war on the human race. Let us constantly examine ourselves for righteousness that is acceptable unto God. REFERENCE SCRIPTURE: God’s Latter Day Judgment Against Israel

Deuteronomy 32:20-30

20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.

21 They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

22 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

23 I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them.

24 They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.

25 The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.

26 I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men:

27 Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave

themselves strangely, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and the LORD hath not done all this.

28 For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them.

29 O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!

30 How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?

Deuteronomy 32:32-34

32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:

33 Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.

34 Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures? Based on the scriptures above, the following weapons are mentioned.
