HOW TO

Study the Lesson:

Study the given objectives first. It would be good to rewrite them on a separate piece of paper or in a separate note if you are using a computer or tablet. Make sure that you read the lesson thoroughly before you watch the video. This will test your comprehension of the lesson.

While reading the lesson, take notes and highlight what you deem as important points that need to be emphasized.

While reading the lesson, make sure you watch for parts of the lesson that express the objectives. Check them off one by one as you read. However, also consider if there are any other important points that might need to be made in addition to the given objectives. If so, write them down.

If there are any other important points that need to be made, then make sure that they broaden or expand the given content. In other words, stay within the context of the subject matter and the parameters of the objectives. If you add key points that are extensions of the subject matter, make sure they are substantiated by scripture. In fact, corroborating script is the best and preferred way to expand a lesson. Using corroborating scripture will also ensure that you do not go off on a tangent.

Whatever scripture you determine should be included in a given part, write it down. Now you are ready to watch the video.

WHAT ARE You Hearing?

While watching the video, take your notes among the same notes you took while reading the lesson.

Remember, you are now taking notes based upon the perspective of the video teacher. This will allow you to see and compare both perspectives. Did the teacher stick with the objectives?

In evaluating the objectives, did the video lesson add other perspectives or important points not listed in the objectives? If so, did your notes include any of the new points or perspectives?

Did the teacher use other scriptures:

Did the teacher use additional scriptures not found in the written lesson to make his or her point? If so, did you list any of these new scriptures in your note taking. If not, then add them to your notes, as it will make your teaching of the lesson even more comprehensive.

Was there any increase?

Additional scriptures and perspective points manifest increase. Even if there is an increase in the video teacher ‘s delivery, never assume that there can be no additional increase in your delivery of the same lesson. It is the Holy Spirit that gives us insight and increase Create an outline of what you have heard and comprehended.

Merge the notes you took while reading the lesson with those you took while watching the video. Make sure that all your notes are outlined in the chronological order of the lesson.

and Interaction What is the Teacher’s Approach? What are the options?

Sitting Down vs Standing Up:

Standing before a class is always a better approach than sitting. Standing gives the feel of more interaction and engagement. I, Mary Banks, tend to sit while teaching due to a physical condition of my lungs. But I would prefer to stand and traverse the audience more. Demonstrations:

Do not hesitate to use demonstrations to relay a more visual display of the message. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in this matter. He knows what will resonate with the students.

Demonstrations could include the use of people or props.

However, when using people in a demo, be sure to use those individuals you already know. In other words, try to avoid using strangers, as you may not know their spiritual location or temperament.

Demos should not be complicated to follow or understand.

Afterall, the purpose of the demo is to bring clarity to the message. Black or White Board:

Using the board is a way of emphasizing key words, and making points more vivid. It can also be used to establish a trail of thought for the student. The use of the board should keep the information in a chronological, relatable order. The board should tell the story by highlighting important points, definitions, perspectives, etc. It is also good at helping the student with note taking; as the board has already captured the most valuable concept or revelation.

Graphics

If you are creating your own graphics, be careful to use royalty-free or graphics you have paid to use. We do not want to become liable for using graphics belonging to other designers without paying for their use.

Creating Icebreakers:

Although I am sure the staff will provide you with several suggestions for icebreakers, my primary concern is that you create a culture in the school that makes every student feel as if they are studying and learning with family members.

Regardless of the diversity in student participation, we are all a part of the Body of Christ and God is the Father of us all. Therefore, it is imperative that you, as a teacher, set and maintain an atmosphere of love and patience.

Treat every question as an opportunity to bring further clarity to the heart and mind of the individual asking the question. If they fully understood, they would not have asked.

Time Consciousness:

Make sure that you use the time wisely. Stay on point. You only have so many minutes to teach the lesson and establish that lesson in the spirit of the student. In studying the lesson, set yourself some time markers at the beginning of each section of the lesson.

The Teacher’s Dress Code:

I prefer all our teachers to wear a MBGTC jacket with a skirt, dress, or pants. This adds a degree of professionalism to the school.

The MBM Colors are Black, White, and Gold. (The MBM black and white stripes could also be made a part of the uniforms.) Black or white jackets are worn with the MBGTC embroidered logo. Another idea is a Black and white striped shirt under a black or a white jacket. These are the dress codes of choice.

Blue Jeans are not to be worn. A pair of black, loose-fitting jeans may be worn with an appropriate jacket.

I am confident that if you stay true to the things I have delivered here, you will be an awesome teacher.

Maintain fellowship with the Holy Spirit, and He will lead and guide you through every lesson. He will give you insight and wisdom to deliver the knowledge you have gained from studying the lesson. Remember, the people must be taught by God. He is the teacher, you are simply the vessel who has studied to show yourself approved and worthy of the honor of being used by Him.
